So in summary, he doesn't have a great engine, he can't pass further than a few yards and he doesn't tackle like a tiger? I can't wait...

Sounds like he could be tough competition for Zenden in the reserves.

Well, the Veron we have here on earth has never made a tackle in his life and was never particularly known for his ball-winning abilities either.

He was when he played for Parma and to some extent when he played for Lazio. Obviously it wasn't the strongest part of his game in Italy but if you don't make any tackles you generally don't flourish in the centre of midfield for the best team in Serie A.

EXACTLY. You have the same attitude as me. I'm saying he's like Veron, he won't settle in the Premiership.

You can't have it both ways, I don't believe international performance has any bearing on likelihood of flourishing in the premiership.
You can judge a player on any appearances they make. The only question is how much weight you give that judgement. If you were to ask me whether I would go more on what I have seen in a number of games for Argentina and a few for River Plate & Corinthians, or the odd match in six he's appeared in for a struggling West Ham during his first few months in a new country, then I think it's pretty obvious which is more likely to be representative of his abilities.

You are against signing him and that's fine, but you are also selectively arguing to suit your opinion, rather than looking at it objectively. I'm not saying he will definitely be a great success for us. But from what I have seen he is a very classy player, and would be a good addition. Rafa clearly wants him. Considering we are getting him on loan initially I have few worries about it, if he's not up to it he will not stay.

Given all this I find it strange you would rather we didnt sign him - it expresses to me a greater degree of certainty on your part that he will fail, than anyone* here has expressed that he will succeed.
