Sami is more of a natural CB where as Carra has had to adopt.

I cant really choose between them though.

Poor bloke. A jaffa, huh? Still, with the money he's got I'm sure the fact he can't have kids doesn't get him down too much.

If we was looking at their overall career i'd say sami just shades it as he is a much better passer of the ball & is more of a goal threat from corners than carra.

I think Sami is a bloody awful passer of the ball does my head in, Carra can be quite refined in his distribution. Agger beats both of them thankfully which is why Reina always gives it him instead of either the other 2.

But do you not think that as sami is the older & supposedley wiser one he has helped carra improve his game?

If you look back at all the greatest CB partnerships you always had one who was slightly older than the other.

                I do, yeah.

I'm not saying they needed to be precisely the same age, but when Carra developed into a top-class centre-back, Sami was 'on the downgrade' - to use racing parlance.

Carragher would 'die' for the team. He is by far the best defender we've had since Jocky and Lawro. Carra's defending in extra time in Istanbul typified the man.

would be interesting to see how say Scales, Babb, Wright defended in the team of today.

I thought Scales was great. Very calm on the ball as was Babb in my opinion. The 3 at the back relaunched Wright but destroyed Babb and Scales IMO.

At the time I thought Scales had tons of potential for us. Good player when fit.

If hyypia had pace,he would of prob been the best defender in the world.I think carra's learnt loads from him.Imo the best buy since barnes.
