Cos the FA are such shining beacons of fair play, justice, organisation and honour...aren't they.

Yeah they did. But that's what happens when rules need to be changed. What about when they are decreasing the number of teams in a league and someone misses out on promotion? Do you reckon the team that hasn't got relegated is embarrassed?

        Absolutely bloomin ****ing not.
Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them.

Look I know you're joking in a way, but that kind of attitude is what I'm embarrassed about.
We should be able to obey the rules otherwise we have no grounds for complaint when others disobey the rules against us.

But those rules are changed BEFORE the competition starts, not when it's ended.

i'd just like to weigh into the debate about defending the CL trophy.

The rule was that the local FA should decide. The precendent was set by the Spanish FA as has rightly been pointed out.

Of course that meant that the English FA didn't have to follow that predent but didn't. the question is why not?

The answer is that the newly appointed (at that time) CEO of the FA is a liverpool fan who ducked making his first big decision because it would have courted too much controversy for the FA as it was our local rivals who would miss out, even though it is only right that Champions defend their trophy

The fact that UEFA then changed the rule shows that they agree with this as it woudl appear that they felt they could rely on FAs to not need babysitting on these kinds of things.

We did not get into the CL because of the fuss we caused, but because Brian Berwick is spineless.

But if we do get up other clubs noses because of our percieved special treatment then good.

To be fair, the FA supported Liverpools inclusion and helped us with the campaign to UEFA to get included

It's perposterous to expect the Champions of the biggest cup competition in World Football to defend their Trophy - utterly stupid.

The problem was caused by the spineless FA, and an oversight in the competition rules, which has since been closed.

Mate Chelsea sites feature a "story" about us on an almost daily basis. I think it's funny. I actually laugh when I read this ****. I pity them.

That's irrelevant. 20 years ago you could pass the ball back to the keeper. Does that mean that all our pass backs then should be punished retrospectively? No. because the rule is now redundant.

At the time, we relied on a rule change. Regardless of whether WE think the rule was right or wrong, we had special treatment from UEFA meaning another club missed out on what they were entitled to.

I know the facts thank you very much, I find it all embarrassing and that isn't going to change any time soon.

I know you are trying to be fair minded and stick up for the little guy in all this mate, but the rule was wrong, UEFA admitted that. They wouldn't have changed it otherwise.

It needed something like what happened to bring it into focus. It just so happened that it was us in the middle of it. If Chelsea had won the Champions League (fat chance!) and finished fifth, I'd have still said they should have been let in the next season.

The competition is completely devalued otherwise. Look at the fuss caused when Man U pulled out the FA Cup.

Exactly. The rule has since been changed/corrected, which clearly speaks volumes.

We’ve not a sausage to be embarrassed about. Not a ****ing sausage.
