to find someone like Abramovich, who has more money than sense, and see's us as a play thing will never happen. Those people are few and far between.

If someone (Hicks & Gillett) has invested alot of money into a club they are not just going to let their investment go to waste.....they will look after it, nurture it, and try build on the initial investment. DIC would of done exactly the same thing.

No sensible person on here was expecting DIC to throw around money like Abramavich. I'm sick of being accused of this. The issue is one of how much debt the club will be saddled with after the takeover is completed.

Kraft at least has a history of investing in soccer in the US so at least knows something about it. I bet this Hicks guy knows next to nothing about soccer

i have no problem with Gillett and Hicks..they both have good track records in their sporting investments...especially Hicks. I bet Hicks had never heard much about Ice Hockey when he purchased the Minnesota North Stars and moved them to Dallas (after they had gone broke). Since he has been on board the have been one of the best teams in the league for the past 10 years.

Hicks and Gillett will not be going into this without a clue. They have advisors, i bet Parry will stay on board in some role. They wont just takeover. When Gillett took over Montreal, the fans were against it...because he didnt know the traditions etc. But he understood that, he didnt want to change the fact that they were traditionalists....he wanted to build on it. From the sound of it the same thing will most likely happen here.

These guys can give spending money to Rafa and build our stadium, but if these guys know nothing about our sport how will they market the club?

I'm not judging these guys yet, but I have misgivings and I'm just wondering. I guess we'll find out a lot more soon enough, when the deal is announced and these guys face the press and fans.

Kraft never said he was a lifelong fan in all fairness, he never said he was a fan at all. He said something like "Liverpool is a great brand" . Kraft, compared to Hicks has a very very good reputation among sports fans and the public over here, he is very highly thought of both in the media and by the public.

As Dhavlos correctly pointed out, Kraft has owned his own soccer team since 1995 (?) . In fact he created it, and while they havent set the MLS alight exactly, he has been heavily involved in promoting the club, even having the good taste to appoint a Liverpool great, one Steve Nichol, as the coach. He was also heavily involved in the USA world cup attempt recently and travled to Germany to watch the games. He knows that soccer is a huge sport in the US and will contiune to grow . I see more kids playing soccer than I do playing 'football' over here.

I think, but not sure, that he felt Liverpool FC was very over valued by Moores and Parry, and wasnt going to pay over the odds for the club, so walked away in the end.

Its a shame as I think someone of Krafts calibre would have been awesome for the club, as out of all the potential investors he was perhaps the closest thing to Moores we will get.

Gillett I am not so worried about as I am Hicks, he is a different proposition altogether.

The speed at which the DIC bid fell aprt and H&G stepped in and had their bid accepted has unsettled a lot of fans , and I think a lot of us are asking "have the club ****ed it up again ".

Exactly. I was reading an online article about this from a Dallas news site which said of Hicks that he knows nothing about football and would view this acquisition as purely an investment. Sound like someone with our best interests at heart?
