Two weeks ago Rick Parry was telling anyone that would listen DIC were the perfect people to take control of the club's long term future and that a deal was days, if not hours, away. Two weeks later and there has been a simply astonishing and suspicious turn around, that we're supposed to just meekly accept, because Parry has come out and said 'trust us'.

I'm sorry, but anyone who is taken in by that is a fool. There's a million and one questions still to answered.

However.....at this present moment in time, all we can do is cross our fingers, take a deep breath and hope for the best, these two yanks should be given the benefit of the (substantial) doubt and be granted the absolute backing of the Liverpool fans, until it becomes quite clear what their intentions are.

It saddens me that football has progressed to such an extent that a local man who loves his club is completely and utterly out of depth in the modern game. I dread the day I am sitting in the 'Addidas Arena', looking down on the pitch from a distant height, clasping my £45 ticket and stretching my legs out, two massive TV screens on either side of the pitch and flashing advertising all around me...as the stadium announcer screams 'Gooooaallll' and the cheerleaders dance around me.

That said, 17 years without the League title is simply unacceptable.

We are constantly told we 'must move on', but, despite my young age, there's a large chunk of me that wants to stay put.

The line between adapting for success in the modern game and maintaining the soul of Liverpool football club is wafer, wafer thin.

Thank you for everything you have done for the club Mr. Moores.

I hope to Christ you haven't ****ed this up.

Top post. Can't really argue with that, especially re: unanswered questions. Another time, another place, I may have given you 5 balls for that

Maybe if they got a marketing man in at the club it would be better as you say
Sadly this is very true. I wouldn't mind betting that Arsenal did a lot better out of getting to the CL Final than we did out of winning it, because let's face it, David Dein may be a smug tw@t but he's a much better CEO than Parry.

I'm keeping my counsel on this one. We have f*cked up big time in letting this fish slip the net. Only time will tell whether we caught one which is more tasty than big.

Nah mate, there's no need to be concerned. You can trust Rick Parry

The fact that DIC are now trying to buy Arsenal must tell us something. A real Liverpool fan would never consider such an option.

what i don't understand, is DIC are apparently in it just for the profit motives, but football isn't all that profitable in the short term, even in the long term.

take glazier, a 800 million pound investment, returned about 20 million profit after tax last year.

we're no where near as profitable as the mancs either

Al, they're Investment bankers. The Premier League have just signed a Billion pound plus deal with SKY. Of course they're going to want in to try and get their slice of it. The trick is to use them as much as they use us - that's how it works with Investment Bankers and business - it's the nature of the beast.

I know that. I'm trying to point out that the comments made by Al Ansari about being Liverpool supporters and the Americans possibly not ring a bit hollow now.

That is just some lazy journalist putting 2 and 2 together though isnt it ? i read somewhere that a DIC source has said that they wont be going after anyother premiership team, they were only interested in us because one of them was a big liverpool fan

When/if premier league clubs are allowed to negitiate their own tv contracts, the big clubs will become very profitable indeed.
The more foreign mercenaries take over clubs, the more chance there is that it will happen as they don't care about the game, only money.

sorry, that's naive. They're interested in investment opportunities, nothing else

Gillet is not on the 400 richest list, Hicks is with about 370 million quid.

Important thing to remember is that they are not plowing all thier own money in to the club, they are borrowing it. All speculation I know, we wont really know until the details of their bid are made public.

Like others I dont feel comfortable about this new deal, not because they are Yansk, I was a Kraft fan, just that Hicks specializes in leveraged buy outs, its what his company does.

                            Time will tell.

I don't even think it was about profit directly from football Colin....more about promoting Dubai. Let's be realistic, they stood to make what 100mil-200mil tops out of Liverpool over 7yrs. That's pissing in the snow when the family is worth $15billion.
