Because speaking to someone in person or at least hearing their voice will not give them an opportunity to lambast him behind a computer screen whilst holding their dick in their right hand in a big fat armchair. You'd be amazed how different people are in real life to what they portray themselves to be online. Ever met people from the online world? Then you'll know
one quick point on naming rights for the ground, it will be called anfield whatever sponsorship much in the same way as southamptons ground is st mary's, not the friends provident st amry's stadium, to give it its full name. my only concern is that if we go down that route we dont have an embarrasing name and we get a ****load of cash. and for those complaining about selling souls it was our beloved club that took the step of tarnishing the red strip with a sponsors logo befor anyone else in this country, selling the right to sponsor the stadium is a logical extension.
Calling up a handful of fans is all well and good George, lovely in fact. Deciding not to sell out and instead naming the new stadium 'Stanley Park' or 'Anfield', would make a much bigger and deeper statement and earn a great deal of immediate respect from the match goers. It is possible to win number ninteen [sic] and not sell the name of the stadium. The two aren't mutally [sic] exclusive.
Which would you prefer: sitting in a stadium called 'Stanley Park' watching us play Dinamo Tirana in the UEFA Cup First Qualifying Round or sitting in the 'McDonalds Anfield Arena' watching us play Real Madrid in the Semi Final Second Leg of the Champions League?
If selling the rights to the stadium name helps us improve the facilities and the squad, which in turn helps us win the Champions League or the Premiership, then why the **** not?

Don't know what the beef is with naming the stadium. I couldn't give a flying one to be honest.

I agree that everyone would be impressed if we didn't rename the stadium, but equally do you really think many people would care if we did? What makes us any different from fans all over the country who's stadium has changed its name?
When all is said and done, the fans will still refer to it as Anfield/New Anfield/Stanley Park/Whatever and isn't that more important?
