They can call the new stadium what they like providing the money goes into the team. The way I see it is that once Anfield has been knocked down then that's it - Anfield has gone and only the memories remain.
Unfortunately in this day and age to help ensure the club remains the most decorated in the country Anfield has to go. There will never be another Anfield.Nowt wrong with lurking!

Too right. I don't get all this 'let's call it Anfield' stuff anyway. It's like splitting up with your girlfriend, getting a newer, better looking one, and asking her if she minds you calling her by your exes name, just to make you feel more at home. There's only one Anfield - so lets remember all the good times there and look forward to the future in our NEW stadium. Sure it'll be weird at first, but everyone will get used to it and then wonder what the fuss was all about, a la Arsenal

The 'original' Anfield will be confined to history, exactly in the same way as the original Kop. The new stadium will be similar, same players, same fans, same ethos, but it will never be the same Anfield.
Taking it to an extreme, if we don't change with the times, we'd still all be standing on a grassy mound watching the game.
I agree with RS4 et al, I couldn't care what the stadium is called, it's a building, an in-animate structure, it doesn't make Liverpool what it is. It's what you put inside that counts and I'll still be going no matter what they call it.

**** calling it Stanley Park. Stanley Park's reminds you of needles, graffiti & gangs of scallies, oh, & Vernon Sangster's outstanding *cough* sports centre. Not what I wanna name a ground after.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostI'd call it Stanley Park then.
If we're moving, we move from Anfield, there'll only ever be one Anfield, if they offer us enough money call it the Playboy stadium for all I care.

Aren't some things above money though ?
If we sell the name of the stadium, what next ? Massive in-stadium TV screens for a bit more advertising cash, selling our European Cups on ebay to pay David Villa's wage....
Isn't the entire point of the takeover that these lads can fund the stadium without resorting to selling out the name or plunging us into debt, they're supposed to be pretty rich, after all.
I for one hope that George was just covering his back when he didn't rule out naming rights, and in reality, he wont resort to it.
