What a ridiculously extreme view.Originally posted by rushscored4 View PostWhich would you prefer: sitting in a stadium called 'Stanley Park' watching us play Dinamo Tirana in the UEFA Cup First Qualifying Round or sitting in the 'McDonalds Anfield Arena' watching us play Real Madrid in the Semi Final Second Leg of the Champions League?
You're basically saying selling the stadium name and we'll win the title. Keep the stadium name and we'll crash and burn into mid table obscurity. It's not that black and white, besides aren't these yanks supposed to be rich...
A lad on RAWK has just come up with an absolute screamer of an idea..
There is a massive American based company called 'Fortress' who have had dealing with Hicks in the past.
'Fortress Anfield'.

so lets get this straight, is it the selling out you don't like, or the potential silly sounding sponser

maybe he doesn't want to change his name to cokeacolacokeacola
there's a great saying
sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.
If selling the name of the new stadium brought us an Alves, Villa, Kaka every year so what.
They could sell the name to Tampax, Preperation H for all i cared.
2 things spring to mind with these people.
1 - there's no protests and it wasn't a hostile take oever
2 - they're trying there best to win over the fans and look to be sport nuts.
Shouldn't we also be showing them that they've made the right choice and in effect convert them into Liverpool fansIts times like these we learn to live again FF

I dont want to sell out. At all.Originally posted by Rocket View Postthats still selling out in exactly the same way only difference is you quite like the name.

But, unfortunately, it seems it's going to be inevitable...
So, 'Fortress Anfield' would be making the best of a bad situation.

F**k me - Now that would be a belter of a stadium name -knowing our look though we will probably get sponsored by bloomin Disney.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostWhat a ridiculously extreme view.

Exactly. They've given so much up to now already by giving us a debt-free takeover, getting the stadium underway quickly, etc. yet some fans just want to take take take. On top of theirs giving so much in materialistic terms, they have also given us decent people who are willing to listen, learn and speak their minds, unlike other chairmen you'd might never get a sentence out of.Originally posted by redlancer View Post1 - there's no protests and it wasn't a hostile take oever

It's a very selfish attitude by some to expect them just to give give give all the time and as soon as they might consider how best to IMPROVE the club (by for instance looking at it from the point of view of GIVING us MORE money by selling the naming rights) it's 'NO NO NO, **** OFF'

Its not extreme at all - it was meant light hearted..............Originally posted by sean_lfc View Post'What a ridiculously extreme view'
To be honest, either way I am not too bothered, as to me it will always be Anfield and the redmen play there.
I am just happy that the club was not plunged into debt with the borrowing for the sale. That to me is worth more the naming rights for the new stadiumI make no apologies, this is me

As you say, you're just happy we've not been plunged into debt and that is definitely a point not worth overlooking. I believe the Americans are sound business men and have shown that already by doing what they have done in the way they have done it. And for that I would happily give them the opportunity to raise more money for this club and help us all out even more by selling the naming rights, which in effect is just a look-out for maximising income and strengthening us in all areas.
