Let's have 'em.....the Barca build up thread

just got back from the pub, they've got an poster up about the BArca match(match of the month noless!!!), ****, just less than 2 weeks to go! I cant wait for this one!

I know it's far too early, but any thoughts on line up etc?
I hope we dont go for a 4-5-1.
maybe can go with either 4-4-2or a 3-5-2

(Reina, Carra, Sami, Agger, Momo, Stevie Xabi Riise and Finnan with Kuyt and Crouch)

I think Rafa might pack in a few players with Primera League experience. Gonzo in for Riise prob.

I really hope Momo is fit and ready to play. If he is I think we would be best off with a 4-4-2 with him in the middle with Xabi and Gerrard out wide. I would go Kuyt and Bellamy up front. I think we need to hold the ball and Crouch encourages hoofing too much. The problem for me is who to play left mid.

maybe Aurelio? Having said that Riise has got shedloads of experience in Europe for us. If Momo isnt fit enough, Rafa may even be tempted for Bolo to sit in there instead. Cant see him going 3 upfront for the away leg.

indeed, will have to be either Aurellio or Riise. I think Gonzo maybe a bit to green for this game from the start, but maybe a good option as a sub.

Mascherano before Zenden surely? Not sure about his elibility for Europe though, from a registration point of view.

he needs sectioning. bellamy's barely good enough to play in the prem let alone playing against the european champions. it has to be crouch - proven at all levels.

                    I'd go for...

                    -------Kuyt--Bellamy
                    Gonzalez-----------Gerrard
                    -------Alonso--Sissoko
                    Riise---Agger--Carra---Finnan
                    -----------Reina

Six of those players have played in the Camp Nou before, that's a big advantage.

Bellamy will have to use his pace to try and hit them on the break, Alonso and Momo will have to act as a sheild in front of the back whilst maintaining possession when they get the chance and Stevie will work hard, protect Finnan and hopefully pop up with a wonder goal...he's due one.

I dont rate Gonzalez, but he did well in la Liga and he'll fancy his chances for this one, I'd also play Agger for that tiny bit of extra pace, crucial against Eto'o.

Is Gonzalez still carrying a knock? Either way Rafa seems to have lost a bit of faith in him of late. Maybe a game against Spanish opposition is what he needs to get some confidence.

                        Hopefully...

                        Reina
                        Finnan
                        Carra
                        Agger
                        Riise
                        Alonso
                        Sissoko
                        Gerrard
                        Kewell
                        Kuyt
                        Bellamy

Subs: Dudek, Hyypia, Aurelio, Pennant, Mascherano, Gonzalez, Crouch

That's probably our best line-up and it has a lot of flexibility, there's potential to play 4-4-2, 4-5-1, or 4-3-3 with those players. I haven't seen much of Barca this season so couldn't really comment as to what kind of approach we need to take but I suppose the one major thing is you've really got to watch their ball carrying players like Ronaldinho and Messi - can't afford to let them get into a rhythm.

got some valid points there mate. Ultimately, I think SG will go wide right, I hop ehe doesnt but with Momo back (touch wood) can see it happening.

As for Eto'o, dunno if he will be fully fit to utlisie his pace, same goes for Messi.

well he had that injury against Arsenal, dunno how fit he is at the moment.

Gonzalez is fine, was on the bench agains the blue****e, maybe he'll get a game against Newcastle. God knows the leave the kind of space he'd like to run into.

It would be great if Kewell was back for it although I'm guessing it's highly unlikely. Haven't heard anything about him for a while.
