Couldn't agree more mate.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostGreat news about the five day training camp in the Algarve. A whole working week to nail the tactics. I fancy Rafa to pull this one out of the hat for us.
Ten days to prepare, basically a full fit squad to pick from, and nice five days in the sun, (while Barca cram in another two or three hectic games) will do our lads the world of good.
Rafa could not have asked for a more ideal preparation.
I fancy us.

exactly.......its almost identical to when we won it. People were screaming at Rafa to pick the strongest team for the league as we were in a scrap for fourth.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostExactly, a nice side-effect from that cup debacle
I remember thinking we are never going to win it and we have to pick our strongest team for the league, and just look where that ended up, he was getting slated as well!!
When number six is on the mantel piece Rafa will be once again hailed as a genius

Barca are not the formidable unbeatable team they were last yr.They have won two from their last five games and are in a slump by their standards.

The area that worries me is our LB, I don't think Riise or Aurelio are good enough defensively to cope with the space that barca's pitch affords. Neither one are good positionally and thats vital when theres so much space.
however as a unit i fancy our defence against anyone, even barcelona. eto'o wont be 100% by his own admission and finnan can contain ronaldinho. rafa will have plenty time to get the tactics right, i really fancy our chances at their place

Barca to Consider Xabi
Is this the beginning of Barca trying to unsettle our players before the games. Well they can **** *** !!! Xabi is ours and will be ours for a long time!!
" Reports in Spain suggest Barcelona could test Liverpool's resolve over Xabi Alonso in the summer.
Barca are widely expected to tweak their midfield ranks over the summer and are being linked with a host of big names.
Chelsea's Frank Lampard is a reported target, but Catalan sources claim Alonso could become Barca's main priority.
The Spanish international is very well settled in England and is a big fans' favourite at Anfield and only last month Alonso's agent suggested a new deal could be in the pipeline.
There is also little doubting how much Rafa Benitez rates his midfield anchorman, who along with Steven Gerrard makes Liverpool tick.
Barca's sporting director Txiki Beguiristain has refused to confirm any reports on Alonso - but it is thought that the player is firmly on the Catalan club's list of summer targets and an approach could be forthcoming at the end of the season.
Another player that Barca are said to be compiling a dossier on is Ajax's Wesley Sneijder.
The young forward is one of the most feared in Holland and most of Europe's elite clubs are well aware of his skills and now Barca have joined the chase.
It is widely expected that Sneijder could leave the Amsterdam ArenA this summer and he is likely to have his pick from a host of clubs. "
