Likewise, I'm supposed to be watching it in the pub with two mates, but for the REALLY big games, sometimes it's too nervewracking to be around everyone...and it's better watching at home alone.

I am watching it with some lads from work .... only a few of us and it is early morning over here. I am nervous already, but really excited about the game.

The standard might not be great, but It's still an absolutely electric competition, the Madrid-Munich game tonight was superb...

Agree i watched most of the Real game and flicked onto the end of the Arseanl game to see them lose delighted i was.

Its a great comp when it gets in to the knock out stages.

I'm not bricking it for this game, it's all about getting them back to Anfield and still being in with a chance. If we get a goal I won't be too unhappy with a 2-1 loss.
A draw or a victory would of course be superb, but we can take on anyone at fortress Anfield with the 12th man in full voice

Virtually impossible to second guess Rafa, but here goes.

Arbeloa---Carra---Hypia---Riise

Finnan---Mascher---Xabi---Aurelio (if fit?)

Gerrard

Ive gone for Finnan at right mid because I think Rafa will not want us exposed down the left flank when/if the buck-toothed wonder turns it on, and we'll double up on him for most of the game. Arbeloa to start as he's just out of La Liga and by all accounts can keep R'dinho quiet when playing well.

Mascher to start but not finish the game, more disciplined in the holding role than Momo which will be of the essence tonight. Maschers remit will IMO to stop Deco from playing as he is their key man for me.

Biggest concern for me is our left where I assume that on Barca's right Messi or Giuly will start, can see either, slaughtering Riise and Aurelio tbh.

Rafa to play it deep IMO, counter-attacking game with Gerrard in a freeish role bombing on to support Kuyt, ive gone for Dirk up front as he holds the ball up far better than any of our other strikers and possession retention for us tonight is absolutely crucial. If we dont keep the ball for decent periods, i fear us getting mullered, if we do, it'll be a matter of seconds before the Barca fans get on their teams backs which can only be good for us.
We cant allow the game to develop into us with our backs to the wall for long periods so for me its all about how well we keep the ball tonight.
