So you think it was enough to overpower him and he COULDNT have stayed on his feet then?

Perhaps he coulsd have stayed on his feet, but - if the penalty hd not then been given - the defender would have gained an advantage from Foul Play, assuming Stevie had been unable to make the run he was trying to.
I DON'T KNOW how eassy or not it would have been fro Stevie to stay upright, but I DO KNOW that the defender indulged in illegal contact, under the eyes of the Ref, after being warned. Furthermore, the defender had Crouch's shirt off his back as he went in for the loose ball, so there was a penalty there as well, anyway.
(FWIW, in the away game, Stevie did try to stay on his feet after jumping over a wild challenge, but lost his balance anyway, and still got pilloried for diving)

He means the first league game of the season, and if you want to keep your second thread on this can we talk only of last night's penalty incident here please? I can't believe you persuaded me not to merge them, what a messOriginally posted by DJS View PostIf you mean the Bolton game, it was at home, and Gerrard appealed for the pen.

Stevie appealed for the one at Bramall Lane too

No way was that one a pen mate. Given for 'intent'Originally posted by JRC View PostNo, Sheffield United away - the pen was correctly given, but it has become part of the Gerrard Diving legend, although he clearly tried to carry on after hurdling the tackle, even getting a shot in as he lost his balance.
So Rob Styles is a mind-reader now...
