It was an incredibly touching moment of solidarity between fans, and I remember being in tears at the time. My memory may be going, but I'm sure it was taken to away games at the time as well.

It was perfectly fitting to hold up a similar banner in thanks to the Celtic fans. The only cringeworthy thing is that an ignorant ******* like you can't appreciate it and feels the need to denigrate it on a public message board.

Thanks to every Celtic fan involved in making and displaying that banner. Particularly at this time of year it is great to know that there are others in the football fraternity who support our cause.

Take the chip of your shoulder fella. No need for the insults. Monkeywool was hardly being offensive. :whatever:

He's in no way criticised the effort to highlight the cause or the camaraderie between Liverpool and Celtic fans.

I dont necessarily agree with his sentiment, but see no need to crucify him over it either.

Btw, would just like to say, Celtic fans are classy. Respect to them.

Just to clarify guys, I never once said that I don't do anything other than appreciate the sentiment and the whole thing is classy. The wording itself could have been better and a bit more simple rather than that. We could have thought of something better is all I am saying and I saw it once and cringed at the wording. The vomit inducing thing is just my way of saying that it is just a little bit too much for my taste. No offence actually intended just voicing my opinion about it. The people who did it should be commended for sure.
        You walk down road.

Right side, ok. Left side ok. Through middle. Squish, just like grape.

        Same with Karate.

Either you karate do yes, or karate do no. Karate do think so, squish. just like grape.

When they took that banner down the lads that had it were trying to decide what to do with it so one of them said 'Bang it on Ebay, it'll pay for the next one or we'll give the money to the HJC' then another one of them said, 'No cos then some **** from London will buy it'

In the end they wandered back to their seats undecided.

That`s OK.It`s an emotive discussion and any post will be dissected and taken at face value.

"VOMIT INDUCING" got up a few peoples noses, maybe "Cliched" was a better word.

No support from Celtic shopuld be "Vomit inducing"

It was about the "Liverpool banner" NOT the "Celtic banner/campaign".

However, our banner, despite the good intentions is pretty vomit inducing in all fairness. A simple "thank you Celtic" would have sufficed, but the "We've never walked alone"?

That sounds really completely and utterly cheesy and I cringed when I saw it. Fair play for the effort though, but I would rather have seen something else than that.

                  I did read it right.

Moving on and back on topic please.

I would love to "take the chip of my shoulder". It's all I've wanted to do since '89. I was there though. As an 11 year old with my dad, I watched 96 people, fellow fans, through no fault of their own, get crushed to death in front of my eyes. I watched all the people who I now go to the game with every week being pulled up to the upper tier to safety while other more unfortunate fans died.

Forgive me if reasonable debate falls out of the equation when this is discussed within 3 days of the anniversary of the disaster. Forgive me if I'm quick to insult a lack of understanding on this topic amongst supposed fellow liverpool fans. Forgive me if I can't understand the logic of someone, who disagrees with the sentiment of "we never walked alone" to the point where he feels the need to post on a thread thanking Celtic fans to criticise people who held up a banner of thanks similar to that that was held up at the replay in the immediate aftermath of hillsborough.

His post was ignorant, insensitive, and completely missed the point. I cannot understand how any Liverpool fan could post that it was "vomit-inducing", "cheesy" and that he "cringed when he saw it".

I'm very surprised that anyone could actually support that opinion on here.

I do not, nor ever will disagree with that sentiment. What I said was that in this case I do not believe it was necessary to put it in that wording as it did seem a little too cliche and not as special or as meaningful as it could have been. Fair enough it is similar to the banner in 89, which at the time was something that worked and was very poignant, for me though this time around a similar banner just didn't work.

I admit that I probably would not have come up with much better, and I am in no way criticising the thought and the gesture to make the banner. I said that it was a great idea and I fully supported it. The original banner from the Celtic fans was a work of pure class and a great token of our friendship however and I am not here to detriment our Celtic friends or indeed the RTK campaign but merely to just make comment that the banner we made somehow didn't work for me.

Maybe it was because I was too young to appreciate the original in '89, or I was spending the rest of that year having nightmares and thinking I would never be able to set foot in a football stadium again hence me not being at Anfield that day with my uncle, who never went to another match after Hillsborough so I didn't see the original day, just hearing the reports from my friends who were there.

So no, maybe I don't appreciate the original banner for one reason or another, or do I see the poingancy of the new version but I never said I don't appreciate the gestures from the Celtic fans, nor did I criticise the sentiment behind our response, I only commented on the fact it did seem a bit cringeworthy/cheesy/hallmarky whatever. I appreciate this is a difficult thing for me to put across but I just feel a simple "thank you for your support throughout the years, we will one day have justice" would have been much better.

Come on folks, lets' not turn a thread about a wonderful gesture from Celtic Fans in support of something that is so close to all our hearts into a slagging match.
