Perhaps it is not the players but the system. Didn't Kuyt score 71 goals in 101 matches for Feyenoord, whilst Cisse spent three seasons as top goal scorer at Auxerre?

Kuyt was not the box as often, as the manager gave him a specific role to play. The game suffered as both teams were more aware of not losing than trying to win.

Fowler couldn't last 90 mins playing for Benetiz's team.

I think we should start with Fowler a couple of games now. He will probably last 60 minutes. That is better than giving him 5 at the end.

Is it possible that maybe the standard of the respective leagues is nowhere near that of the Premiership?

I admire Kuyts efforts but he lacks the vital ingredients for a top class centre forward - The ability to finish, the pace, awareness, not being in the box as often as a Dutchman should be () arguably even worse in the air than Crouchie and he is as ugly as **** to boot (sorry.. the last one was a joke ).

Despite all this I genuinely feel he can improve some of those areas - whether or not he will be a permanent fixture at Liverpool.. the jury is still out IMO.

So what he comes to life when he's within two yards of goal! I mean come on!

He's too fat, too slow, Love you Robbie, but it's over.

at last someone with a bit of perspective.

If anyone is doubtig ladyred or myself then check out his goal scoring stats in the league. The lad has not been a threat for the most part of a decade. Yes he has got a couple of goals this season but if you take out the pens then it is not that impressive, plus the fact you have to take into account they were meaningless games against poor opposition.

Also I would just like to point out that he didn't actually score yesterday. He had a great opportunity and missed......how is that an improvement?

Please can we just move on.

True, but those leagues gave us Van Nistelrooy, Makaay, Henry & Trezeguet etc. When Larsson was scoring goals for Celtic, people dismissed his ability simply based on the assumption that the Scottish league was weak.

If you look at his record at Valencia there was never a prolific goal scorer, Mista was a hard working forward who contributed goals; however, goals from midfield and a solid defensive base was blueprint for their success.

Didn't he score the penalty that salvaged a draw against Sheff Utd on the opening day? I'm sure that would be meaningless if we pipped Arsenal to 3rd by 1 point or on goal difference.....

It's not even necessarily a case of one league being 'weaker' or 'stronger' often it's just about different players style of play suiting a certain league.Eg Morientes

It doesn't really matter whether it was a penalty or not, and not everyone scores them like God!!

Yes but with Fowler we know because of his goal scoring stats over the past 10 years that he does not have the same goal threat as the strikers you mentioned.

Agree with your second point, although, I am not sure how it advances your case to play Robbie. If a goal scoring forward is not needed then we may as well stick with what we have got.

He also missed a sitter in open play in the first half that would have won the game for us.

I think most players on the pitch would have scored that pen, you don't need robbie to that

and it is that endearing blind love and affection which is sole reason for this debate to take place.

If I speak to any of my neutral football watching friends, they would all agree with me. It is only on Liverpool forums that I come accross people who want to see him start every game.

**** this...the strikers we are starting with are not scoring...FACT!!

Lets shake it up ring a few changes Fowler is well worthy of a start and should be getting a 2/3 game run to decide his contract! He is a proven Goalscorer in the prem which is more than can be said for Kuyt!!

Give the lad he does work his socks off in games but is'nt providing the goals and that is what we need!

I guarantee if Robbie gets a 2/3 game starting run he will score!! And this crap about scoring against **** teams Galatasaray aint **** and any premier league team for that matter are not **** either!!

                                Give him a chance...play Fowler!!!!
                                El Nino!!
