No club in the premiership (apart from Chelsea) could ever reject an 80 million pound bid for any player and that includes Rooney, Ronaldo, Gerrard etc...

But on the flip side I don't think there's any club foolish enough to spend 80 million quid on a single player.

Except Stevie got slated from pillar to post for 'flirting' with other clubs, Rafa appears to be immune from people questioning his 'loyalty'.

If he wants to go, let him.

Nobody is bigger than the club, despite the media trying to suggest otherwise.

I agree and that's why I think he will stay....until he does indeed fulfill his ambitions at Anfield.

Clearly not. Ian Rush made a point to mention so in his Echo column today.

If Rafa is using us to bide his time in getting the Madrid job then i say get rid now. Rafs's focus should not just be on this season and next, but the ones after that also.
The young siginings he has made lately seem to suggest he is looking long term, but it could also be a smoke screen.
I dont think that it is fair that Rafa is using us to either get what he wants from Madrid (i.e total power like he has with us) or to force the club to go against what they think is right (i.e Academy control etc).

You must presume that his first wish is to get the Madrid job with the control he wants otherwise he would shoot it all down now, as i dont believe he will have any major concerns over transfer funds etc with the americans

Stevie supported LFC as a boy. Rafa supported Real as a boy.

I think we all know where both persons loyalties are with. If a die hard red had to leave LFC to win trophys we really will be in trouble.

The big shame is that people only ever leave Man Utd when theyre not wanted anymore. Both Ruud and Becks wanted to stay. That doesnt seem to be the case at LFC.

Its about time we got back on our ****ing perch.

Rafa is wise enough to know the Real job is his whenever he wants it. Another reason he would not be in a rush to take it.

It's the club closest to his heart just like Liverpool is for Carra. If they give him total control of the club from top to bottom then I can't see him staying but I doubt that Real would allow any manager total control of everything.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If our new owners are willing to seriously invest in bringing the best players to Anfield then there are plenty of top quality managers who would love to take over IF/WHEN Rafa leaves. Managing LFC is still one of the biggest, most prestigious jobs in world football.

You're right, nobody is bigger than the club, including Rafa.

But who is to say that if he does not take it now and someone goes in and makes then world beaters for the next 6-8 years?

Also wouldnt Rafa like to be seen as the saviour of Madrid? Instead of someone who is taking over a already successful team as maybe the case if he waits

What is Mourinho goes there and is a massive succes and stays for 5-10 years though and then at the end of that time Real have a new director of football who doesn't want Benitez.

                              It's very possible.

I dont think the job is 'his whenever he wants it', football is a fickle game.

They made the same point on the show. And yet the key is still the meeting with Gillet and Hicks.
