what club are we talking about again?

i think people - myself included - need to get their heads around the fact that someone like rafa can give 100% to liverpool while weighing up options and negotiating for the maximum possible in everything to do with the club. although rafa and mourinho seem to be totally different publicly, in one crucial way they are the same - 100% belief in their own abilities and 100% confidence in their plans. getting your own way all the time like both of them would want doesn't always come across very well and can make them appear machiavellian.

i don't question rafa's commitment because ultimately i just want long term success for liverpool so whether rafa does it or someone else does it i don't really care. i think rafa could make real successful because all the indications are that spanish/european style football is what he knows and understands best. he might just be realising that himself. if so, so be it.

People looking at the job, like Lippi, might hold out and go for a job where they think they have a higher prospect of success, eg Man U and Chelsea - these jobs will probably be available within a couple of years.
Evans was clearly out of his depth and took over after Souness had made a complete cu/nt of it. And throughout his reign we were always there, or there abouts.

Houllier was a complete hack. We got lucky in that treble season. We barely beat the brummies in the league cup final, out played by the arse, and we let a Spanish pub team hang around in the Uefa cup final. We needed extra time and two of theirs sent off to beat them. And I won't mention our league performance, or the last two years of his reign.

Rafa's the first proper manager we've had since Kenny. He's given us back our European pedigree, I hope he can do it in the league, but if he decides to leave then there won't be any shortage of takers, and proven quality ones at that.

Sometimes I think Rafa has really good cheerleader in Ballegue

Its just, Real have had lots of oppurnitites to hire him earlier - why not?

Plus, its not that Rafa style of football is very Galactico - its on the whole very conservative and in the season that Valencia won the league, the top score one year was Baraja

I appreciate that at home, in possession, they were vgood (especially Aimar/Vicente), but we are hardly palying like that

I think Jose will ultimately be a better fit

Rafa is probably posturing for another contract/more control at LFC (which he may get at the Americans are in control)

However, the sadiest thing is the unstability does not let us build for next season (as usual)
          We need better attacking players!

          Torres aint enough

          Rafas number #1 fan

The club was skint last summer. The club backed him up as much as they could but £6m net isn't that much. So he didn't get the money to challenge for #19.

I liked Roy Evans, if Parry and Moores had given him more money to spend, he would have won the league.

British transfer record on Collymore. He was backed alright. He never finished outside the top 4 though, something considered a success now.........

I liked him too but I doubt he would've ever won the league for us regardless of how much money he was given to spend (didn't he break the British transfer record on Collymore?). If we had a tougher manager than Evans at the helm, in charge of Mcmanaman, Collymore, Ince, Fowler, Ruddock etc then I believe we would've won the league. We had an unbelievably talented side who were far too indisciplined to have ever won the league.

We broke the transfer record with him in charge and we had a bigger lack of discipline than the club has ever seen. We wouldn't have won it by a stretch, certainly not with Man U's ability during that time.

You're right though we did play some lovely football

I agree. It does my ****in head in the way he gets slaughtered and referred to as soft old Uncle Roy. He came close and was unlucky - at least we played the 'Liverpool' way under him.

*not his signing, but he was in charge when the transfer went through.

He's had a decent amount to spend IMO.
