Anyone else notice that numpty on FSC kept calling Alves Silva? Its unbelievable that they continually disrespect the supporters of this game so much by failing to know anything meaningful about the sport. Rafa made a huge mistake by not signing Alves last summer.

Sadly that's true... too much interest and too many good displays by the lad has made other clubs sit up and take notice.

Alves wont come to Liverpool now. There's not a chance in hell we are his 'first choice club', Chelsea, Madrid and Barcelona will all be ahead of us in the queue, in fact Barcelona have a first option on the lad.

Rafa has spent far too much money on cut-price squad players and 'possibilities'.

I know which side of that equation I would have opted for last summer.

If Rafa had wanted Alves, he could have bought him. Overall, he spent the money available very, very poorly last summer.

We needed two new strikers so he couldn't have used the £16m he bought Kuyt and Bellamy for. We also needed a left winger after Kewells injury so he couldn't use that money either.

The only money he could have used in another way is the £7m he spent on Pennant but Alves wasn't available for £7m. Sevilla wanted £15m for him.

Cisse with his broken leg would have been great wouldn't he........... actually he probably be better, he'd at least have stayed on side a bit.
Gonzalez has been injured quite often and hasn't had the chance to get a run in the team so it is a bit unfair to judge him like that, same goes for Aurelio (who was also free and has imo played well when not injured). In regards to Alves, what he had come and been **** (which is entirely possible).
