Anyone else notice that numpty on FSC kept calling Alves Silva? Its unbelievable that they continually disrespect the supporters of this game so much by failing to know anything meaningful about the sport. The main guy called him Silva throughout the entire game and no one corrected him as far as I heard. Shocking.
    Custard's OK

Sadly that's true... too much interest and too many good displays by the lad has made other clubs sit up and take notice.

      Still we can hope

Gonzalez deserves another 2 years to see if he develops and adapts to the struggles of the Premiership.

Needs to get his head down and start working.

Rafa has spent far too much money on cut-price squad players and 'possibilities'.

Gonzalez + Pennant + Bellamy = Dani Alves

I know which side of that equation I would have opted for last summer.
            Believe what you want.

Rafa has an agreement with Alves that he will join us if we pay what Sevilla want for him, and that's £18m.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

              Kuyt 10m
              Bellamy 7m
              Gonzalez 3m ??
              Pennant (rising to) 7m
              Paletta 2m

If Rafa had wanted Alves, he could have bought him. Overall, he spent the money available very, very poorly last summer.

To be fair though, if he hadnt bought Kuyt and Bellers, who would we have got with what was left? Our front line wouldve been worse than it is now.

We needed two new strikers so he couldn't have used the £16m he bought Kuyt and Bellamy for. We also needed a left winger after Kewells injury so he couldn't use that money either.

The only money he could have used in another way is the £7m he spent on Pennant but Alves wasn't available for £7m. Sevilla wanted £15m for him.

Rafa should have bought ONLY Kuyt and Alves in the summer then.

Gonzalez, Pennant, Aurelio, Bellamy and Paletta are just squad-fillers, bought for a combined cost of what ? 13-15m ? I would have sacrificed all of those to sign Alves.

Rafa could have kept Pongolle or Cisse at the club if he felt we were short on strikers or wingers, neither of those two are a long term solution, but then Bellamy isn't either.

The fact is, Rafa wasted most of his summer transfer budget last summer and could have signed Alves.

Cisse with his broken leg would have been great wouldn't he........... actually he probably be better, he'd at least have stayed on side a bit.
Gonzalez has been injured quite often and hasn't had the chance to get a run in the team so it is a bit unfair to judge him like that, same goes for Aurelio (who was also free and has imo played well when not injured). In regards to Alves, what he had come and been **** (which is entirely possible).

A nutter who pretends like he actually knows what agreements we have, what Rafa is thinking and what players are thinking.
