The comparison with Robbie is irrelevant. Owen's only 27 and is a professional off the pitch. Robbie's 4 years older and hasn't looked after himself at all, lets face facts here, he's too fond of the sauce.

As for his hamsring injuries, yes he is a bit prone to them, all players with real pace are. But all too often in the past, he was played too often because we were so reliant on him. Under Rafa, he'd be rested naturally under his rotation policy.

Being honest i think this owen thing should be put to bed, we wont sign him, he may be fit, he may not be, Shearer had a bad injury he come back, some do, some dont. We'll find out in a year.

if attracting the players was not a problem

        Etoo
        Alves
        Lennon
        Ledley King

in reality that lot would probably cost more than £50m so sell Bellend to help pay for King

see where your coming from but would stil rather buy a younger in-form striker.

P.S. I`m still bitter about him leaving us to "Win medals" the yr before we won the CL.

Bale 10£ m : best young lb in Britain as we speak
Baines 6£ m : very good young rb with a bright future
Simao 12£ m : much better option than Alves. He's a natural two footed winger who can defend as well. Alves is one footed and cant defend like a typical Brazilian defender.
Eto'o 20£ m : As much as I like Villa I think Eto'o has more to his game & cheaper by at least 5-7£ m.
So that's 48£ m spent. Could not think of decent left winger we can sign so I'll leave it for now.

How come I'm seeing figures like £15m for Masherano? Himself and Teves only cost West Ham £10 combined, and I seriously doubt that the 'holding midfielder' cost £20m more than the striker (£15m - £5£ = £10m )

But they were/are not entirely owned by West Ham if at all. I think that's how much MSI or Joorabchian or whoever paid to buy out their contracts.

I'd try and keep it as simple as possible this summer.

                        World Class stiker in - a) Eto'o b) Klose c) Villa

                        Alves in

Job done, #19 on it's way back home.

Yup, one or two top drawer individuals only please, we now have a decent squad of good/very good players along with prob the best CM in the world, we just need a little bit of excellence here & there.

damn straight... MGP has the best left foot in the Prem....the amount of goals we would score purely from his crosses would be worth it.

                                for me:
MGP- £8m- his delivery is world class
Huntelaar- £12m- cheaper option, but he scores goals for fun
Alves- £15m- we all know what he can do
Tevez- £12m- he is that "x factor" that we miss
G.Barnes- £3m- fantastic talent, wasted at Derby, come play RW for us.
G.Bale- £9m- We cannot let him go to Utd, he is going to be a special.

if we could get at least 3 of those players we would have had a fantaastic summer.

sell Bellamy to Villa for £8m, Zenden, Kewell, Cisse also can leave. Pongo will also be sold for around £3m
