Yes but that's how it is.Originally posted by fredo View PostI have friends who are Manc supporters. Do I hate them ? I can't stand their faces during a game, but when it's finished, we move on.
As for going into such extremes as stating that United vs LFC in a European Cup final is more than a 'game', then I'm sorry mate but you're clearly on the wrong path ... That would be behaving like animals.

Oh dear oh dear! You have no idea. It is ****in scary! It will be awful. As Nobby says, getting on a plane with any of them will be tantamount to really putting your life at risk. Go to Old Trafford next season when we play them and see how you are treated, see what the police do - **** all.
After our semi at OT last year we went into town for a drink - both myself and Nobby's missus were verbally abused by Mancs and we weren't even playing them!I live with Steptoe.

I bloody know that mate. My point is that it's a sad state of affairs that there should be idiots on both parts. Most of us would be coming there to watch a game of football.Originally posted by The Glove View PostAnd that is the difference.
We are not friends with the 50k of them that will be there. They are not friends with us.
Fredo, reason doesnt come into things when ale and football are involved abroad.

If that was the case, I'd be plain disgusted going to footy matches supporting my team. Armchair footy should be the future for us all ... Why build bloody stadiums then ?Originally posted by Mumsafan View PostYes but that's how it is.

The Man u firm were about after the Chelse semi and we had a bit of a run n in Deansgate with some of their nutters. Thye were hell bent on giving a scouser a doing, so they even came after a bunch of middle age men. I know that at least two of them regretted it after the affray. I have to say that I did enjoy it but It's not something I want to do when going to watch a match, I thought that those days were behind me. However you can imagine what it would be like before and after the game, particularly after te game when the losing supporters would have a complete sense of humour failure. No matter how far back you seem, when you're blessed with class, anything is possible. And then when the game is over?
Mate, it may be a shame but it is not going to change. Everyone who goes the game or even is a football fan in general will tell you that a Utd - Liverpool final will expect violence before and after the game. Id be absolutely amazed if someone wasnt knifed over there by a manc or vice versa.
Id love to think that it would all be banter but me and every other Scouser/Liverpool fan know it wont be.
But to be fair, if it was a Utd Chelsea final, there would probably be brawling at that.Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.

As much as I hate to admit it, Utd are probably the best team at the moment out of all those left.
I expect them to beat Roma comfortably. Therefore I expect them to at least make the semis. After that if we both go through it would be a fantastic occasion - one that both teams could not contemplate losing."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Fredo, you should have probably exited this thread page 2 and came back when it was explained. United is a one off. They are our most HATED rivals. Take mums for instance she goes to a vast majority of the games, but refuses to go old trafford... does that not tell you something?
However, just to agree on ONE point, i fear you'd be right... it will be held in Athens if we draw them....

It is only the case with the Mancs although some nastiness has also crept into the derby but not on such a big scale.Originally posted by fredo View PostIf that was the case, I'd be plain disgusted going to footy matches supporting my team.
