    Getting to The Stadium

The Athens Olympic Sports Complex can be reached by metro with the nearest station to the stadium being Irini on Metro Line 1 which runs from Monastiraki and Omonia stations in the city centre. The journey to the stadium from the city centre takes around 25 minutes with trains running at 3 – 10 minutes throughout the day. From the station it is a 10 minute walk through the Olympic Complex to the stadium. The last train returning after the match leaves Irini at 00.24am. Tickets cost €0.80 for a single or (depending how much traveling you plan on doing) it may be worth investing in a day ticket (€4) valid on all modes of transport between all stations except the Airport.

By suburban train or Proastiakos, the nearest station to the ground is Neratziotissa.

From the city centre, there’s also the X14 bus which runs from Syntagma Square in central Athens direct to the Olympic Stadium taking a minimum of 30 minutes. Alternatively bus lines A7 Kaniggos - Kifissia - N. Erythraia, Β7 Kaniggos - Kifissia - N. Kifissia, 602 N. Ionia - Kalogreza - Panormou Metro Station, 550 P. Faliro - Kifissia, 441 Irakleio Metro Station - Halandri - Aghia Paraskevi also serve the stadium.

If you have hired a car, the best way up to the ground involves exiting the city centre to the north via Kifissias Avenue and following the roadsigns to OAKA. If you’re travelling via the Attiki Odos ring road, you’re best using exit 11 (Kifissias - Ol. Stadium). It may be worth parking in the Athens Mall car park mentioned above and walking to the stadium from here on foot.

Man its like ****in Istanbul all over again can Uefa not put the Final somewhere where you can get to the ground with no hassles, I will never forget the 2 hours it took to get from Taksim Sq to the Ataturk, had to get off the bus twice for a piss, just walked alongside to catch it up.

      Thanks by the way.

From memory of the Olympics there the trains/buses were not too bad to get around. Imagine it will be a lot better than what I heard too place in Istanbul

Two wrongs don't make a right fella but I've had a season ticket since Neil Young was a boy. Surely that and going to every CL home game this season should give me a better than 2 in 5 chance of getting a ticket for the Final?

            obviously not mate!
this is the future btw - imagine how difficult it is for United fans to get Cup Final tickets if there's maybe 50-60,000 seasies. Thats us in a few years
'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
            It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
            Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

That may well be true but it's not the right answer. There should be some element of loyalty involved for people who've carried on paying their season ticket through the bad times (like the Souness era) as well as the good. It really ****s me off that a bloke I know (I hesitate to call him a mate) who has a Fancard and has only been to around 15 games in total this season, including the six 'proper' CL games, has just as much chance of getting a ticket for Athens as me. How can that be right?

Like I've said before, why doesn't the Maccabi Haifa game count?

And for all those of you who say "you're lucky you've got a season ticket, I've been on the list for 115 years" I'm sorry but kindly ***** off*...

The qualifiers have never counted and they've always made that clear every year. It wouldn't be fair to suddenly announce they counted.

Great answer, eh: "that's the way it's always been, so there..."

Surely, if you've bothered going to the trouble of arranging your holidays around a fairly meaningless return leg against Maccabi Haifa plus the expense of the ticket and travelling, etc, then I repeat WHY shouldn't it count? And WHY wouldn't it be fair?

Not everyone has the chance to arrange holidays around the qualifiers. Some folk are told when to take holidays ie. factory/ car workers who have a set shut down time.

as others have pointed out they will prob look at loyalty before doing the "ballot" without actually saying so

I'm not arsed about silly little towns with "wakes" where everybody books their two weeks in Benidorm at the same time. This is 2007 and most people - like you and me - can book their holidays when they like.

Anyway, nobody has yet answered the question why the Maccabi Haifa game doesn't count and I'm sure qualification games gave credits in previous years towards later rounds...

That's not true. Doesn't matter where you live it's not always that easy!

Also, I can see your point but why not write to LFC about it?

Like anybody will bother reading it! Thankfully we know someone in the ticket office so I'm hoping I won't need to...

...unfortunately even she hasn't been told what's happening yet!

there is no solution that will please everyone.

Ranting and raving at fan card holders won't change a thing. If fan card holders could do something about it, or were in any way responesible they wouldn't be fan card holders.

Stop moaning on the internet Rushie, like someone said write a letter, which is the correct way of flagging such issues.
