When Rafa first joined we needed a right winger, a replacement for Owen, a quality left back and someone to link the play. What's changed?

Someone on another forum very eloquently put a post together about the experience Ferguson has and how he knows how to win the PL. Mostly by hammering the **** teams and going for their throat even when they are 2-0 up.

He goes on to say that Ferguson would have won the league with the current Liverpool squad? Got me thinking... I think he would have done better in the league than Rafa but that's just from his experience or is it a differing outlook?

Rafa is better in Europe, but Ferguson is the master of the PL, no doubts.

That could be true but Rafa has experience in winning league titles in Spain as he's done it twice. I don't think you could win titles in Spain by playing cagey football though.

Rafa does send the team out to win away games, that much is blatantly obvious.
There is one problem though, which we are all aware of, we need more quality, or more quality attacking players. I would also think it is harder for Rafa to impose his tactics in the Premier League than it is in Europe, that coupled with the early season effects of squad rotation and players settling in, we are always going to have issues.
As I said, and as is obvious, we need more quality to really hurt teams.
I don't want Rafa to have a total rethink on tactics as he doesn't need to, he is the best manager in the world tactically as far as I am concerned, and the side effects of Rafa totally revamping tactics for Premier League matches IMHO could spend the end of his career at Liverpool.
As far as I am concerned, keep up the good work Rafa. Our domestic results will pick up, we have seen what we can do in the league especially last season and we will see it again next season IMO.
I think it is really naive for people to think that Rafa is going to all of a sudden order the team o play like United, it means him abandoning everything he knows. He has already had huge success with his coaching style and tactical ability, and will have way way more success.
Its easy to say Rafa should do this, and Rafa should do that, I see it all the time on these forums, and in the vast majority of the cases, people have not got a clue about the ramifications of these changes if they were actually implemented onto the team.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Let's be positive. We'll have more money to spend this summer than ever before from Statler & Waldorf plus for getting to the CL Final. The Mancs have three very influential players (Scholes, Giggs and that **** Neville) who are coming to the end of their careers and they have nobody fit to replace them. They will have to spend big money on a central midfielder (Hargreaves?) and another striker and some of their players will be shipped out, probably the likes of Richardson, Saha, O'Shea and Fletcher.

I don't think the Mancs will improve next season. Arsenal will. Chelsea will. Even Newcastle will. The key is whether we can spend the money wisely and close the gap.
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

75% of the PL do not need a "tactical" genius to beat them.

Scholes and Giggs should be done now, right? Surely this was the last one this time around. I not sure I could handle it if they won again next year.

                              Anyway, here's hoping!

So Rafa should abandon the tactical side of things that the team has gotten used to? to go all the offensive like United do?.
If we were to start taking the Fergie approach, the players would be all over the place when it comes to Europe, not the best tactically, and not having the out and out attackers to really hurt teams playing that way.
When we get the right players in, attacking players, they will be allowed to express themselves, just look at the freedom Pennant Gerrard and Garcia get etc.
I do admire Fergies approach in the Premier LEague, he plays them the English way, and really lets his best attacking players express themselves and play enjoyable football, but we have seen that it comes with a price, and that price for Fergie has been failure to win the CL more than once during his reign.
