Eto'o and Tevez for me, if we can afford them or even want two strikers.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

FLMAO at the thought of David Blunkett playing professional football.Originally posted by Maestro View PostAye - and then afterwards he went to the ****ing Austrian league and didn't score ONE goal in EIGHTEEN matches ... David Blunkett could score more in the Austrian Bundesliga if you played him as a striker....Such an ugly face, such an ugly mouth.

Quite a few stand out, obviously, from that list.
If a top quality, experienced striker was to sign for us I'd go for Eto'o first, followed by Klose. Although I wouldn't mind either of Villa or Torres.
But I think that Eto'o or Klose would be best suited to us due to their ability in the box and scoring that goal that is the difference between drawing a game and winning. Eto'o electric pace, trickery and finishing power would be a massive boost for our strikeforce, and Klose's aerial ability, the nack of scoring that crucial goal, and his poaching instincts would also be fantastic.
However, there are also two players in the Premiership that would offer us something different too, in Berbatov and Tevez. Both offer different qualities, as well as having a good season of EPL football under their belts. Berbatov would give us that link between midfield and attack and would be well suited to our passing game, whereas Tevez would give us that burst of energy up front and the awareness and instinct in front of goal that we sometimes miss. The fact that Mascherano is also here could well be a bonus, you never know! Tevez would become a cult hero of the Kop if he signed.
Huntelaar is also a phenomenon in Holland at the moment, like others before him that's come over to England (e.g. RVN, Kezman and most recently Kuyt). I'm sure he'd fit in well with us too, and with his age could become a fixture in our squad for years to come. But I feel we now need that little bit of experience to take us that step further in the league, that's why I'd rather an Eto'o or Klose if we are going to splash the cash this summer.
Klose would obviously be cheaper but my first choice would be Eto'o, but I feel the asking pice could be the problem especially if the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and others are also in the chance.
So, here's my list of who I'd like to see arrive this summer:
Eto'o
Klose
Tevez
Berbatov
Torres
Villa
Huntelaar
The others I'd rule out, although there are big things being written about that Alfonso guy but I know nothing at all about - apart from what's being said of his recent goalscoring record.

The problem in trying to predict who we'll go for is that for the first time we don't know how much we've got to spend. In the past we knew it would be around the £25m mark, now who knows. If say Villa or Eto'o become available do we have the cash to compete or not? On the face of it, we'd say not but H&G may make serious cash available for the right player.
Eto'o would be my first choice. would he come to LFC, maybe, maybe not but at least we may be able to compete for him if he is sold, and thats a major plus on recent years. In short, as ever, there's alot of maybes. A win against Milan wouldn't do us any harm though.AKA Heighway No9

To be fair, they did write "BLUNKETT" on the back.Originally posted by dirty_sanchez View PostIt's out of order tricking blindists into doing things like that.
If they were going to trick him, then surely they would have written something like "BALLBAG" or "MENTALIST" on the back?Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Maybe it's just cos we've never moved in those financial circles before and the fact that we're not flash and never have been but I can't understand why so many fans are baulking at paying 30 mill for a striker. Better a world beater for that money than pay a fortune for a load of ****e like Cheyrou, Diao, Diouf and Cisse(bit strong that but you get my point). How many of the truly big transfers, say 25 mill+, have been flops. Veron and Ferdinand (decent but way over the odds) and who else??? . Paying top dollar is more often than not a fairly safe bet.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I totally agree, but wouldn't it be just our luck to lash thirty million quid on some syooper-striker and he comes to us and plays like Jason Lee. I could just see Eto'o coming here, scoring four goals all season and being absolutely ****.Originally posted by wavydavy View PostMaybe it's just cos we've never moved in those financial circles before and the fact that we're not flash and never have been but I can't understand why so many fans are baulking at paying 30 mill for a striker. Either him Zarate or Falcao(although he has some injury problems lately)Originally posted by Diego View Posttrue. but if there is any striker in argentina that should be on this list it should be Palacio. i have hight expectations for him in the future...
Well I don't really know what to expect from Palacio in the future. He isn't as young as people make him out to look, he is already 25(possibly 24) but that's quite a bit for an "up and coming player". Palacio has superb technique, lightnight pace and very intelligent and irregular movement. But he is already mid 20's and I don't know how he'll fit into Europe when he eventually comes. He isn't the strongest around so I don't think he'll ever suite EPL, he may even struggle in la liga at certain clubs. Depending on how physical their style is. He has it good at Boca atm, so if he leaves it'll be quite some risk on his part. I wouldn't ever want him at Liverpool becuase it'd be risky business but i'd love to see him in Europe in the near future to see how he gets on.

how on earth can you tell from watching you-tube videos?Originally posted by dirty_sanchez View PostExactly. Thing is though, from watching him, he looks like the sort of player who we could be looking at in a few years going "why the **** did we mess around with Eto'o when we could have had this guy".
Like you say though, a massive massive gamble.
