What if Rafa spends 30 million plus on a striker and he flops?

I concur with that opinionOriginally posted by Lecter View PostKuyt has always dropped off the play and worked between the lines
Its all about opinions but for me Tevez would come after two wingers and an out and out goalscorer

I've heard the same.Originally posted by Lecter View PostWhat I think and what actually happens are two different things
Hes our No.1 target from what I have heard and we will be prepared to spend BIG money on him
Just as a side despite the flurry of speculation in the national press the Echo & Daily Post have been VERY quiet. The only player that has been mentioned recently (in a Football Echo a couple of weeks ago) was.... Eto'o

I think, for once, we can compete for absolutely anyone this summer. Liverpool are a big draw, especially after the european campaign we have had again, and we actually have money this summer, big money. And make no mistake, the yanks will want to create an impression...anything is possible this summer.
p.s - anyone else think that Hicks is now our biggest fan outta the 2 of them...it seemed to me that he was just a money man at the beginning but by **** i think hes warming to us!!

Of course, but merely the thought of us bidding for him, never mind signing him, sends blood hurtling towards my penis.Originally posted by Maestro View PostUs wanting and us getting are two different things though.
I would
too though if he signed...
****ing hell, just imagine!!!!!
Edit: I mean imagine Eto'o in a Red shirt, not, er, the other stuff...

We've got a couple of decent keepers, the 2nd best defensive record in the prem and a central midfield trio comprising 3 of the best 10 midfielders in the world (no exaggeration!). It is blindingly obvious we now need a world class striker. Kuyt is a good player and gives a decent return goal-wise and Crouch give us options. Can you imagine what could happen if we could sign a 30 goals a season forward like Eto'o, Van Nistelrooy or Drogba. It would turn us into premiership contenders overnight. I can't believe, given our new found financial situation, that Rafa won't buy this player whoever he is.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I've not been here long but you do seem to have an unhealty sexual obsession with arousal caused by speculative transfers, I would hate to image what you fantasise about!Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostOf course, but merely the thought of us bidding for him, never mind signing him, sends blood hurtling towards my penis.

Especially if we win number 6, we have to be a highly desirable destination to any Spanish based striker, surely?
2 Champions Leagues in 3 seasons, top wages, fans who are nowhere near as fickle as in La Liga. Serious history and tradition, Spanish speaking playing + backroom staff.
As I'm always saying - we are HUGE in Spain at the moment...the Spanish press gives us nearly equal coverage with Real and Barca ffs! The whole of Spain wants us to win in Athens.
Speaking to Barca fans in Liverpool, they were blown away by the Anfield experience and YNWA.
All these things must be appealing when the likes of Eto'o and Torres come to deciding their future, surely?Last edited by Maestro; 10-05-07, 08:03 PM.Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

I'm fairly sure you'll have only read me talking of transfer-related stiffies about Eto'o, and nobody else.
If I could pick any one striker in world football, it'd be him. It would be the most exciting transfer in my lifetime, and probably in our entire, glorious history.
Hence the hard-ons.
