The giving the ball back to the oppostion was only in his last couple of games (post injury) for the rest of the season his ball retention was good. Everyone seems to have a memory that only extends to the last couple of games. Watch again the games at the beginning of the season. Your opinion WILL change.

Even so SG's passing yesterday was even worse than Momo's.

      Xabi for me.
maybe i have built him up too much in my own head. but i can remember so many performances in the past where i tought this guy is one of the best passers of a ball i have ever seen.
unfortunately, i just haven't seen it this season, for whatever reason.
Referee Lubos Michel said: “If my assistant referee had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty, and sent off goalkeeper Petr Cech.”

In terms of previous standards they have set I'd say Gerrard has underperformed most this year. Alonso has also gone off the boil. In terms of players who just aren't up to the job then it's Riise, Zenden, Bellamy, and HK who are most at risk of going. Pennant and Momo need to improve a lot to justify our faith in their abilities.

Nah the only thing he really does well is cheat, not the Liverpool way.

Ive seen every game he has played in, my opinion wont change on his close control and passing im afraid, his touch has always been very heavy, it seemed to me that teams just copped that Sissoko is a good ball winner, but put pressure on him to get it back and you have a good chance of getting it back. Id pick Mascherano ahead of him every time.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Has to be alonso for me too.

Just nowhere near where he was previous seasons, and I thought if anything he would improve further.

                    Very subdued the whole season.

                      Your choice?

Mine is Stevie G, he just hasn't provided much this year. His passing has been diabolical, he's scored next to no goals and he's clearly demonstrated a complete lack of discipline when asked to play on the right.

He definitely will need to step up his game if we are to win anything next year.
Xabi Alonso - by a million miles. I can't ever remember a player dipping so badly in form.

Surely, he's been better than SG though. No?

Agree, at least he has been a good ball winner and his ability to retain possesion has been awesome. SG has not provided any of that.

You may be right. But I doubt it. The upside is too great.

I'd go along with that (plus SG) all have disappointed me to some extent. Some (Gonzo) more than others.
