Luis Garcia is a good player, althought inconsistent one, but can be sacrificed, if it means we could sign Torres, in my opinion.

Yeah mate at times he was fustrating giving the ball away and those fancy tricks of his but he always gave his 100% and most importantly the goals he scored.

I think the fans will always love him for the part he played when he won the CL in 2005, scored very important goals gainst Juve/Chelski.

I really hope he doesnt leave but if he does he has his name written in the Liverpool History Books. I dont know if i would say he is a legend but absolutely a cult hero

Certainly the fact that he's got two years left on his deal and we've heard nothing about contract negotiations etc seems to be quite indicative.

I've read a few comments on here of people saying they;d be happy to see the back of him, and be happy to have Beneyoun as his replacement. Personally I dont understand that at all. Luis offers us something currently no other player does. He is the only player we have who can play in the hole behind the striker (Gerrard looked lost in that role in Athens), he also knows how to gamble and get in the right positions in the box and get on the end of crosses and loose balls (in the way Kuyt can't) and he is probably the most clinical finisher we have.

Yes he tries the elaborate flicks and is frustrating when he loses the ball, but he scores goals and goals win games, as Luis has done for us on many a big occasion. We can't afford to let him go IMO. No disrespect to Benayoun, he'd be a good squad player and is proven in the Prem, but if he replaces Luis then we're a poorer team and squad IMO.

So this is a thread to discuss Luis, whether he's worth keeping or not, but mainly it's to appreciate all he's done for us, say thanks and wish him all the best for the future, whether that be at Anfield or elsewhere.

I would be gutted if we sold him.

He's great in Europe, great goals i admit but in the league is he really much use in the grand scheme of things, the bread & butter stuff? I've thought for a while he'd make a great super-sub from the bench but his lack of possesion play is way above questionable imo,he's not a first teamer for me but a great impact player from the bench, when you need something different so to speak.
I just can't see him getting that many games in a league campaign to be honest.
I've just read that he's in the final year of his contract, news to me but doesn't that tell a story,i.e. why not tie him up last year!!!
If i could use him as a barter for Torres i would.

He isn't top off the list to replace so we should keep him, but it's all about sacrafices I guess.

Some great moments. I remember when he played on with an injury v Everton after we had made all our subs. True grit and dertermination that made my mind up that he was worth keeping. Not just some fancy dan our Luis.

Oh, and did I mention that he actually scores plenty of goals? So unlike most in our team!

We sure missed our Luis in Athens

I hope he does not go... unless he wants to.

I hope Lil Luis does not leave.
As much as he frustrates me and those around him at times, he more than makes up for it with some of the most sensational skill and goals you could see.
An absolute flair player who is one of the few players on the world stage that can produce pure moments of world class play in the blink of an eye lid

He has scored some sensational and incredibly important goals for us, and not tap ins or goals that anyone could score...some of his strikes are genius.

When playing just behind the striker(s) he is at his best.......and don't forget that luis is a bloke that plays for the team ahead of himself.....remember (the merseyside derby i think), where he could barely walk from (late in the first half i think), but we had already been forced to make 3 subs.....he hobbled along and still got involved for the sake of the team.

I wonderful and wasteful talent in one, and i hope to still be singing....

Is he gonna read that ? If not, why posting it in the first place ?

Well, a fit Luis is prefered to Torres by Aragones so it's strange that he may leave and we may pay much more for his backup and include him in the deal.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Luis played a big part in us winning our 2 major trophies under Rafa - Champions League and FA Cup.

I'll be disappointed if he goes as part of the Torres deal.

Hail King Luis, we must do all we can to keep this lad, ok,he's frustrating at times especially when he loses the ball but, at the same time, he comes up with some spectacular goals too, you just don't know what to expect from this lad but, one things for sure, he's so often a match winner when on form. Keep the lad i say

Something that is hardly ever mentioned - he is a fantastic header of the ball, especially for such a diminutive figure. A great finisher, superb in the air and a man for the big occasion. I've ranted and raved at him in moments of rank frustration, but ultimately I will miss him if he goes.

A lot of people are expressing their frustration at his possible departure - perhaps he wants to go? I wouldn't begrudge him a return home.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I'm sure arround the times Gerrard Carra et al were signing contracts Luis' name was mentioned. As Rafa said all the players who are going know already, and the only way a player will leave now is if we get an exceptional offer for them, and then we'd have to consider it. So I suppose it will depend on what Luis was valued at if used as a makeweight.

Don't want to see him go, one of my favourite players, maybe not be the right choice to play consistently in the first 11, but always worth a place on the bench at least.
