Firstly, I don't want Garcia to leave. I would be happy if he signs a new contract and make us his last club. But since the club has decided he is to be allowed to leave, then let us look at the club's selling policy, which has been (and still is) a disgrace.

According to the reported deal with Atletico, he is leaving for around the 4 mil mark, but L'il Luis should be worth around the 7 million pounds range and upwards! He joined us for around 6mil. True, he just turned 29, but he has improved leaps and bounds since joining us from Barca, even got his first cap/recall to the national team (couldn't remember, but he wasnt in it previously) and scored his first international hattrick in the last qualifying match for the world cup. And his many spectacular yet crucial goals in England and in Europe, surely his value has appreciated, or at the very least, remain at 6mil???

We never had a good deal from clubs buying our players. Next up, Cisse will be leaving for about 6mil sterling pounds, he is still young and he scored a handful, if not the 20 goals a season in england. He's in the french national team, bagloads of pace, and an extremely powerful shot. Market value should be at least 10mil pounds.

I hope Rafa stands firm with Craig Bellamy, and get that 12mil pounds he wanted for him.

Looks like it's all a done deal. Sorry to see the King go.

'Edge of the seat' player just doesn't seem to do him justice.

            Bye Luis, it's been turbulent.

                Atletico confirm Garcia deal

Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Luis Garcia from Liverpool.

The diminutive schemer has signed a three-year deal at Atletico.

Garcia's agent claimed on Monday that a move was close to completion and now the Spaniard has tied up the formalities of his transfer.

"Luis Garcia returns to Atletico and will be presented on Tuesday at 13.30 hours," read a statement from the Spanish club.

"Atletico have reached an agreement with Liverpool to transfer Luis Garcia, who has agreed to a three-year contract.

"Once the player completes his medical, he will be presented to the media."

The former Barcelona man missed the second half of last season through injury and he will be keen to get back to full fitness at Atletico and win his place back in the Spanish national team.

The move paves the way for Liverpool to seal a deal for Fernando Torres, who is believed to be on Merseyside for talks with Rafa Benitez.

i ****ing fuming, we've just lost our most creative player...

I appreciate everything he did for us and he was a legend but I don't think we can afford to have someone who loses the ball that often in a team challenging for the title. He was a luxury player and someone who will require a tougher replacement.

Good luck Luis and all the best!

IMO, Garcia Scored us some vital goals (Some Crackers Too)

However his gameplay was a lil bit inconsistent, Great in Europe
but not in the premier league

ii suppose we will some of his qualities

All the best Garcia and Thanks ... Ynwa!

spot on about him being our most creative player
hopefully we might sign a couple of decent wingers to replace that creativity

I like lil Luis but he was never going to be in consistantly in the 1st team, and that must be annoying for a player of his abilities. I wish him all the best and hope he does great at Atletico

Very sad to see him go. A definite Liverpool Legend in my eyes.

Personally I think we need him, but I trust that Rafa knows what he's doing.
