The suggestion was to give younger players a "chance" not that he was better than Benayoun - whether he makes it or not remains to be seen. However on the other hand we could pay £5M and £50,000 a week (£14.4M transfer fee plus wages over 4 years) to a player who is no better than what we already have and hardly going to enhance the first team which is what this summer was all about. It is about balancing team quality with giving a chance to youth players who show promise. We have won the last 2 FA Youth Cup's so we can't be all that bad.

As I said I hope we buy a top class winger in addition to Benayoun as we need that quality to compete, but if we don't I think this signing won't be enough to challenge Chelsea and Manchester United.

If the player isnt ready for the next stage then playing him at the wrong time could ruin his confidence. Just have to look at Jack Hobbs and Paletta who both had woeful games when played.
Theres very few teams we will play in the Premiership where Rafa could risk playing one of them, if we got beat he would get slatted in the papers and on the forums for it.
Far better to send them out on loan to get much needed first team experience and use players already suited to playing in the Premiership. Just have to look at Scott Carson for the perfect example, would he have been better staying at Liverpool playing maybe 5-10 matches all year or going to Charlton and being one of there best players?

Thanks mate, yup been lurking for about 1 month. I have found it hard to post due to the way some people have been getting on. Slating the new owners calling them all the names under the sun, slating Rafa for some reason (they must be to young to remember our previous managers or realise what team Rafa won the Champs League with) and I think worse of all slating players who haven't even put on a Liverpool shirt yet.
We don't need to worry about the Americans ruining our traditions when we have fans like this . Lets hope we can put all the negative feelings behind us and look forward to number 19

Its a done deal now. Finnally things are moving along. Ive had some west ham fans on the phone to me telling what a good player they have lost and that we have gained. Hopefully Cellemy didnt get to him before he became ours.
