Had Pennant been able to get himself a better angle when trying to beat James that pass would definitely have led to a goal.

Momo was immense today. Anyone that says he wasn't was watching a different match to me.

I've only just got in and now I'm off out again so I've only looked at the last page. Can someone do some player ratings (if they aren't up already) to give me something to look at when I get in from what promises to be an immeasurably boring evening.

Reina 8 not much to do apart from a super save 1on1 vs O'Neil but very assured in his handling

Finnan 8 his assured self, did not put a foot wrong
Hyypia 7 played 90 minutes, kept their forwards quiet
Agger 8 solid at the back and good going forward, improving positional wise
              Riise 7 decent game

Kewell 8 slowly getting back to form, some nice touches & dribbles, tired in the 2nd half which is understandable
Sissoko 8 he is getting his form back, was in the opposing box a couple of times
Alonso 9 MOM for me, he was everywhere, spreading the ball about, class
Pennant 7 showed good touches and work ethic, a couple of good crosses but the lad can't shoot for a toffee

Kuyt 8 our best striker on the night by a mile, typical display from the DUTCH MASTE. Could have had 4 goals, 2 magnificent saves from James denied him
Babel 7 showed glimpses of what he can do, can do much better

              Subs :
Benayoun 7 did ok nothing special, missed a peno
Carragher : not enough time to judge with 10 or so minutes of a run
Gerrard : same as CARRA above
Torres 7 had a couple of chances but missed them, missed a peno as well..can do much better ala Babel
Leiva : not enough time to judge
Arbeloa 7 typical strong, commited performance from the versatile Spaniard

I think the point people are making is, is that he wasnt that bad today, and was one of our better layers on the day.
However, I don't think anyone is saying that he won't have a run of bad games next season, of all our midfielders, he is most likely too, due to his poor distribution at times, which could have a big effect on his confidence.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

As I said earlier I only saw the second half so its a little difficult to give a good view, but I have to be honest, in that 45 minutes I thought Kuyt was absolutely abysmal

Not just his usual hassle and harrying people then giving the ball away he actually passed the ball neatly and was involved in a bit of our attacking play today
Agree with this and his movement off the ball after releasing the pass was excellent.

Evening not nearly as boring as anticipated. Spent most of it sat on a very small sofa squeezed between two gorgeous Swedes. Hardly moved all night. Well only part of me.

Thanks for doing this RS. Have 5.

Finnan was excellent. Him and Pennant give a great balance on the right, more than with stevie there I think. Kuyt was realy unlucky not to score, especially with the header from 6 yards but deserved one. Arbeloa looks like being one of Rafa's best buys to me. A proper defender with a good touch. Great option accross the back.

name a player who has never dived or gone down too easily - they all do it, it's wrong but it's fact.
