LFC bid for Neill

Blackburn have rejected Liverpool's bid for Lucas Neill.

Skysports.com exclusively revealed The Reds had made an offer for the Australian, but Rovers have rebuffed their opening salvo.

Rovers are keen to hang onto one of their prized assets ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday.

Neill has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal and Rovers are prepared to let him serve out his current deal.

However, Liverpool are hoping they can persuade Rovers to sell.

The Reds are unlikely to give up at this stage and talks are believed to be ongoing, although it remains to be seen whether a deal can be struck before Thursday's transfer deadline.

£2m quid sounds expensive considering he is 28 and in the final year of his contract. I thought he could buy his last year out.

Do the maths - I can't see him being of £40k per week

Quoted in an Aussie paper last week that he was being offered 100k Aussie dollars which works out to around 38K GBP so i guess he is on 40K per week give or take

Finnan is the most consistantly good RBs in the leauge! But to be honest Neill was probebly second best last year, well either him or that manure bloke!! So if were gonna challenge for the title we need the best! What happens if Finnan gets injured for the season? I dont wanna have to rely on Kromkamp all year and Carra certainly dosnt want to be wasted out there!! So i think it would be a good move, if only as cover!!

Not getting at you, you are just the messenger, I was just stating the obvious, clever clog posters on other sites trying to look all informed, when in fact it is just the opposite, last day of the transfer window, we are making bids, it is akin to bears sh!tt!ng in the woods that we would have the medical staff lined up for medicals
