    Same here.

And I know he's easily our best player, but it's not as if we can't cover his absence. Masher & Alonso in the middle, Pennant right side, whoever left, Torres + 1 up front.

We can beat them without him.

We can definitely beat them without Stevie although he would be a great loss. I think people underestimate how good Masher and Alonso actually are. Masher especially gets better with every game. He was absolutely superb yesterday...I hope Rafa signs him up permanently.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has a hairline fracture of his toe but will be fit to face Chelsea on Sunday.

The England midfielder took a painful crack on his right foot after a clash with French midfielder Pantxi Sireix in the Champions League tie with Toulouse.

However, he has been passed fit to take on Chelsea and should then link up with the England squad on Monday.

          More to follow.

Steven Gerrard will be available for Sunday's showdown against Chelsea despite suffering a hairline fracture in his toe.
Scans this morning revealed the midfielder sustained a minor fracture during Wednesday's Champions League qualifier in Toulouse.

Rafa Benitez said: "He has a hairline fracture in his toe. I think he will be available for the weekend. The only problem is, if we push him now, he might need a little bit of a rest afterwards.

"I was talking to the doctor and he said it is not a big risk for him to play, though there is always some risk."

Benitez revealed Gerrard may need one or two weeks of rest if selected against Chelsea, which in all likelihood will rule him out of England's friendly versus Germany on August 22.

"If we want to push him for this game, it would be a risk to push him again and again, because it could become more serious," said the Spaniard.

"I still need to talk to Steve McLaren but I think he will understand it would be a big risk."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Thats sound, play against Chelsea, have Sunderland off if he's still a bit dodgy, have Toulouse off and play against Derby or if needs be then dont play then either.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Problem is, I can see this dickhead (McClown) wanting to play him. With Rooney, Jamie and now Stevie not being available, he must be pretty desperate.

It's Stevie's responsibility to tell the clown to **** RIGHT OFF.
