Riise was our worst player yesterday, I thought. However, the whole team played well yesterday and he was okay too. He's fast and strong and has a good shot. My problem with him is that he shoots too hard too often and always makes the same passes, if he passes.
I know he scores a few a season from making those shots, but I think if he made a pass instead of shooting he would find someone in a good position more often. He had a few shots yesterday that were rushed and frankly, weren't likely to come off from where he was.
He's definitely less valuable than Pennant.

John Arne Riise, blast or past?

I thought Riise tried hard yesterday but at the end of the day when he got into promising positions he had no idea what to do. His crosses either were poor or he tried his usual trick of hitting it out off the defender, which admittedly worked a few times.
Good sqaud player at best.
Ps don't get me started on his free kick straight into the wall. Such a waste.

No, we won't get his "Leeds" back, but his efforts when fit for us the last couple of years show that he would be a good option.Originally posted by RPAS View PostKewell will never come good at Pool - we're flogging a dead horse there thinking we're going to get his "Leeds" back at Anfield.

Still I'd prefer a fit Harry Kewell (when???) or players with more flair and technique in that position for a club like Liverpool. If I'm not mistaken some years ago John Barnes used to play there!!!

when arbeloa plays there seems to be noticeably less traffic down our left side. he also passes the ball to a team mate regularly which is good. thought riise played well enough yesterday though.Originally posted by thesilverfoxlfc View PostHe's no left back anymore Rafa wont play him there

I thought he had good game yesterday, much better than when he plays at left back

No way, he's better going forward then defending. And is handy on the left but as back up to a proper winger.Originally posted by Nic83 View Postwell I'd play him at left back...
Its handy to play in certain matches on the wing as he can double up as cover for the left back during the match.
Defensively he is suspect
