Mascher: "Chelsea have lost their spark!"

Javier Mascherano believes Chelsea have 'lost their spark' and Liverpool will start as favourites when the sides meet at Anfield on Sunday.

In a Daily Mail article, Mascherano said: 'We are playing a lot better than Chelsea at the moment. All of our team are performing to the necessary level.

'I have seen some of Chelsea's games this season and they do not seem to have the same spark as in other years and they cannot use their injuries as an excuse.

'They have players with enormous potential and are capable of beating other teams, but there is no doubt that Liverpool are the favourites.'

I really wish that ALL the players and even backroom staff, manager etc would keep quiet not say anything that an opponent could use for motivation.

You can just see it now, Moureen in the dressing room firing them all up with '......and their players are saying this and that, well let's show them ......etc etc'!

I realise the squad's interviewed all the time, and even more before big games, but surely they know that their words can be twisted too. I just wish they'd be more diplomatic.

Rafa tried it against Bolton on New Years Day and it worked perfectly!
My point being that Rafa and the players are bound to say things but how could not be more motivated than playing Chelsea in your own back yard?

Don't have a problem with this. He's not questioning their ability, just pointing out that he thinks we'll win. It's the sort of self confidence that our players need if we're going to have a realistic tilt at the prem ' this year.

Don't get me wrong, he's a terrific tackler, great fighter etc. But he dives too much for my liking - and that's the thing I absolutely hate in football. Hope he gets this crap out of system as soon as possible, because it really gets on my goddamn tits!

Normally I don't agree with shouting the odds but it's time to stand up and be counted. FFS we've only beaten them once in the league out of the last 6 attempts. Masher talking us up can hardly make things worse.
