Yes it ****ing did work, they've won 3 European Cups and 4 league titles in the past ten years. That's outstanding. The 'Galactico' project DID work.

But, yeah, essentially I take your point mate, I'm just being picky.
yeah, and it seems my example wasnt the best ever as well eh?!

    anyway.......my point stands.....

The ones who says that Kuyt doesn't score enough goals or isn't a big enough goal threat also in the same time critize Rafa for playing him to deep.

I don't blame Kuyt for doing a bad job, I think he is doing an excellent job in the position Rafa plays him. I only think Rafa should play him higher up the pitch and let the midfield do the work Kuyt is doing now.

We need more players in the box. That hasn't changed since last season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Kuyt is one of my favourite players but I'm fiding it hard to accept his role in the team sometimes.

Even though he does work immensely hard in a deeper role, I still see him as our poacher.

I don't know why, maybe I should let it go....

The big plus is, as I've said, his understanding with Torres.
I have to agree mate he does lack pace but so do many other players who have still done fantastic jobs - Sami Hyppia for example, Didi Hamann wasn't the fasted either, Fowler neither.
His touch can at times be heavy but I think his good contribution well out weighs his bad.
Garcia was more frustrating at moves breaking down but I'd have him back any day of the week because of what he did give to us.
Same can be said of Kuyt.

Because the point that he is an international playing for one of the top international teams and being at a club as big as liverpool was used as a reason to rate a player highly.Thats all.I was only making a point that thats not always the case.

Dirk can not be blamed for us not winning that game, only the referee can be blamed for that.

I think irish paul was aiming his comments at the afore mentioned arsewipes like justcruisin and ben tover who show dirk no respect whatsoever and will insult the man regardless of how he plays

Is the correct answer. Cheers Paul

Like I said in me last post, I just couldn't be arsed cos some of the bollox written about Kuyt in this thread isn't worth a response.

There is a bigger picture to be seen i.e. Kuyt's contribution to the TEAM. He will score more goals, I have no doubt about that but he'll also create a ****in' ****load of goals for his strike partner by working as hard as he does e.g. the 1st goal against Villa which in the end is good for the TEAM as a whole. Personally I think he's too nice and needs to be more selfish on the pitch in order to start banging them in with the consistency he did with Feyenoord.

So to want Rafa to drop him on the basis of him not having scored 30 goals in two ****in' games is just bleedin' stupid IMO

I have respect for Kuyt, the guy works hard for the team but its really frustrating to see him have this fantastic record at Feyernoord and not replicate that sort of ratio here at Liverpool. He had this reputation of being a poacher at times and also being really unpredictable.
I know Rafa plays him in a different position to what he is used to and he is doing what is best for the team but at least he should be getting into scoring opportunities. At times yesterday only Torres was in the box. That is the most frustrating thing. He has decent heading ability so why doesn't he do what all good strikers do and gamble? Let Gerrard and Alonso get whatever is knocked out of the box- they have the ability of shooting from far. I don't think a lot of people would bash him if he was on the end of chances but he doesn't seem to do that. At times he is too unselfish which can be a good thing but at times it can be really frustrating for a fan.

To be fair I never expected him to get 25 goals and 20 assists a season over here. Remember he did that in the eredivise 3/4 of which is complete riff-raff.

But what I did expect was a player with better quality than what I've seen to date. Plus he just isn't that much of threat to the opposition. If he was a holding midfielder or a right back I'd accept that. But a £10m pound centre forward? Not good enough.

not sure i've ever seen a player divide oppinion so much as kuyt, althought Riise and Pennant are coming close as is Alonso, are people just being overly picky these days. You aren't going to get a perfect team but as lng as we're getting the right type of results and performances does it really matter

Thing is though Niall, we're only two games into the EPL season. Yes he has been here a year already but my judgment on Kuyt will wait until we are well into this season and I do believe that if he becomes a little bit selfish and not chase the play as much as he does then IMO he will start banging them in on a regular basis. He is obviously doing the job that Rafa is asking him to do and IMO he is a huge part of us playing so well.

cant ever see the second striker bangin in the goals in rafas system but i can see higher goalscoring from midfielders getting beyond kuyt or voronin

Gerrard is the only one that does that though.
