    Benayoun's patience runs low

    Benayoun's patience runs low

    Shaul Adar - Wednesday August 22, 2007

Yossi Benayoun is already concerned about his lack of opportunities at Liverpool and "will think about moving to a medium-sized team" if the situation does not improve, according to his agent.

Liverpool have played only three competitive games this season but the Israel international is the second Liverpool player - after Peter Crouch - to complain about not being involved enough in Rafael Benítez's plans. Benayoun was left out of the squad for the Premier League games against Aston Villa and Chelsea but started and played 59 minutes in the Champions League qualifier against Toulouse last week.

"If Yossi won't be involved enough we will think of moving to a medium-sized team," Benayoun's agent, Ronen Katzav, said in a radio interview in Israel. "When we first met with Rafa Benítez, he asked for a lot of patience since there is a huge squad at Liverpool.

"We don't analyse each match. Yossi has patience and motivation and he will get his chance. When you are taking a decision to move to Liverpool, you are prepared for all possibilities and Yossi decided to follow his heart. The target was to try and integrate in the team and I'm sure he will play a lot. Naturally, Yossi wants to be in the squad and knows he has a lot of work to do but if he won't play for a long period we will think again."

The Israeli media has been stunned by Benayoun's omission from the Liverpool squads but Benítez has asked his players to be patient. "It's the same with Jermaine Pennant, Javier Mascherano, Yossi Benayoun, Sebastián Leto and Lucas Leiva," he said last week. "I can only use 11 [players] - and I cannot have more than 18 players in a squad for a European match unfortunately.

"Every player knows they have team-mates to consider. They're professionals and they need to be ready for each game. I'll always have the same answer."

Jesus Yossi la, a bit of patience, eh?
You do realise where you're at, don't ya?

Strange old article that, nothing really definite about it like.
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

      I don't understand footballers.

Any player joining Liverpool must realise there will be rotation. With the exception of a couple of players, not everybody will be involved with the sixteen named on a weekly basis.

If Yossi wanted to play week in week out, he has come to the wrong club. He will get his chance no doubt but I don't think articles like this help, especially after just two games.

Sometimes agents should just shut the **** up.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

If you actually read the quotes this is hardly startling stuff. It says "IF he's not going to be involved enough then he will think about moving to a medium sized team".
'IF' being the operative word. I wouldn't expect anything else, unless it was SWP, Cuddicini or Solskjaer.
Any reasonably ambitious footballer will put football ahead of money, within reason.

Aye, most do. But you don't do it like that at this club.

Yep I agree, and regardless this is his agent, talking to the Israeli press. The country is outraged by him not starting so of course they have to say something like that

Rafa wouldn't have guaranteed him a starting place, and similarly the player wouldn't sign if he weren't happy with a non guaranteed starting place
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Actually makes pretty much sense reading it like that

It must be the media over here making a mountain out of a molehill again.

Agent talk, probably trying to set up a cheeky bid from someone else in January to line his pockets a bit more.

Reckon Yossi, along with Crouch are likely to start against Sunderland anyway.

I guess that people don't know how to read and understand black on white.

Yes but there is something called 'implicit', i.e. 'reading between the lines'. If everything were so black and white, the war on Iraq was because of Weapons of Mass destruction, the Pope is a pious lamb and anything we don't see just doesn't exist! Right-on Frenchboy! LOL (Disclaimer: I am taking the piss, un petit peu)
