In the past, when Stevie has been out for a couple of games we have been desperate to get him back as he was so badly missed. Testiment to the strenght we now have in this department is the fact that we can afford toe give him the sufficient time to recover and bring him back when he's ready

I would like to see him rested for this Saturday and not participate in the International games, meaning he will be 100% & fighting fit when the league resumes

Mascherano suits Gerrard better, I think that much is clear. Xabi still has a role to play in the squad, but at the moment I genuinely do feel he is second fiddle to Masher and Gerrard.

I was also immensely impressed with Momo last night, I have to say. That boy still has a lot to offer.

In the long term, there's no way we can keep FIVE central midfielders happy. We will have to sell one next summer.

I think that now in the strong areas of our squad; and it is clear that central midfield is a strong area, that we are in a position to keep this ticking over by replacing each player sold only when we have a direct replacement and thereby maintaining the quality of the given area. So if we sell one of our CM's next season have a replacement ready.

it was good for alonso that gerrard was given a break, moved up the pitch and scored two goals, i think that the reason he's not progressed from his first season might be gerrard, gerrard wants the ball all the time and xabi has become his provider, i think if this continues we might have to sell xabi next season, for his own benifit, as if and when we have signed mascherano, i hope xabi will be with us for years but i can't see him and gerrad play in the same team for much longer...

Today proved something I'd been talking about in the week when I suggested Xabi could play a more attacking role very effectively if picked alongside Mascherano.

He CAN be a goal threat if he gets himself around the edge of the box. He's never a bona-fide, genuine holding midfield player.

Gerrard has a job getting back into the team.

I think today proved that our CM pairing needs to be one of:

Stevie or Xabi

with

Masher or Momo

to provide the best balance in the team

fully agree mate. yes, theres some whoppers in here lately, but seriously, whats the big deleting posts thing going on??

its not right, if someone is a tit, people will say so, why is that so bad?

the reason i took to this site is because it was open and real, you could speak properly.

not naming names, but some people need to have a look at themselves, not just the people posting, but the people modding as well.
