Mascherano suits Gerrard better, I think that much is clear. Xabi still has a role to play in the squad, but at the moment I genuinely do feel he is second fiddle to Masher and Gerrard.

I was also immensely impressed with Momo last night, I have to say. That boy still has a lot to offer.

In the long term, there's no way we can keep FIVE central midfielders happy. We will have to sell one next summer.

I like Masher and with him in the squad there is no need for a distroyer like Momo who does lack that final pass. He's got fast feet and recover lost balls very quickly which in front of the back 4 is a skill worth having.
Xabi can play the Masher role with better options to passing and the Steive role with more discipline
Xabi is also Rafa's 1st point of call re instructiuons.

If we can't keep thoose 3 happy then something is very wrong.

Alonso would be wise to take note of tonights performance.
Masher and Momo were way on top of their game - lovely to watch.
Also credit to Yossi who worked his knackers off tonight.

I think people criticising xabi are being very harsh. How can you compare playing Toulose at home, already a goal down and then 1 down after 20 odd minutes with playing in the Premiership.
Totally different pace to the game and totally different scenario. Xabi will come good, he's been a major part of the Rafalution and the fact that he gets regular internationals with all the great midfielders Spain have speaks volumes for him.
In my opinion his contribution to LFC thus far means he has enough in the bank to deserve patience and support to regain his form. It wasn't too long ago people were selling Momo and now he's undroppable.
Kneejerk would be a little harsh but I do think it's an over-reaction.

I know, can't believe people treated it seriously and gave it so much attention.

Some decent posts withing though, and generally most people do have the sense to appreciate what a great job Xabi does for us.

IN MY OPINION towards the end of last season Xabi wasnt in top form, thats pretty much agreed on it seems, and whilst he has started this season well some people expect him to be SuperXabi or something, for me its stevie and 1 other, personally I prefer Masch but I can see xabis class and footballing brain and realise that regardless of which Rafa decides to pick we will be fine. Xabi & Masch are both excellent, world class midfielders....these arguements are just personal taste and no one can win because everyone is right (or wrong if your being negative).
Rafa sees them in training and knows which complement each other better so ill gladly leave it to him to pick the teams.
Theres a few comments, and people, id like to whine at but ive been told not to.
This place is madness lately, and we are ****ing winning and playing WELL! HA HA God help us if we collapse mid season, itd be like the end of the world!

Right, I'm very tenuously restoring this thread.

Lots of posts have been deleted, some for complete muppetry, some just for quoting said muppetry or for the sake or restoring order. Several people have been censured, and I have to say we're about at the end of our tether with this kind of horse****. If people can't learn to debate like adults and instead resort to childish behaviour and insults, well, they'll get treated like children and will be sharply dumped in the naughty chair (sinbin).

We should probably just nuke this thread completely, but there are some good posts in it, possibly with a quantity of the drivel removed it might be worth saving. We shall see.
