    Who of you thought

Torres was as good as he is?

I'm curious to know, because I didn't. I was really pleased we signed him and thought he was a clear improvement on what we already had, but he has been sensational.

He has ridiculous pace, and more importantly his acceleration is Henryesque, just look at his starting point for his second goal against Derby and the ground to covered to force the mistake.

He has a great eye for goal, if you look at the first Derby goal, while he is taking on two players he still has time to look up, choose a spot and slot the ball home with his left foot.

And that pass to Kuyt for Voronin's goal, sheer class.

Whether we paid £18m or £27m, on what I have seen so far, it was an absolute bargain. He's only 23 years old and I see that over 5 seasons in Spain only Eto'o & Villa have scored more goals than him.

I know this is another Torres thread, but can you honestly say he doesn't deserve it?

I do have one fear though, the most games he has played in a season is 49, and he has only played 40 in each of the last two. Considering we still have 13 European Cup games, 34 league games, 6 FA Cup and 6 Carling Cup matches still to play, that is a lot more than he is used to

I have to say I thought he had the potential to be wonderful but I thought that he would take time to acclimatise. He has been fabulous for us - right from the off he has posed a threat to the opposition and he has linked excellently with the rest of the squad.

Mate I am absolutely buzzing about Torres. I knew he was good but I honestly didn't realise he was this good, or this quick.

I don't want to be all sensationalist and wotnot, but I think he's gonna be a superstar. His goalscoring record is similar to Shearer's was at the same age - Shearer moved to Blackburn at about the same time in his career and became a goalscoring superhero in a better side. There's no reason why Torres can't be the same.

He doesn't appear to have a blatant area of weakness in his game. Some will no doubt cite his finishing but the one against Chelsea and his first on Saturday were both beautiful finishes.

Best buy of the summer, anywhere, bar none

I do get an awful lot wrong, BUT I have genuinely been singing Torres' praises for years now. Apart from Eto'o he was only striker I ever wanted to sign for the club this summer.

          He just oozes class.

We cant get carried away, but in all comps I expect at least 15+ goals from the lad, with Crouch, Kuyt and Voronin chipping in with 12-15 each.

I think to claim he was a weak finisher would be wrong but he doesn't deal with one on ones with the keeper very well. Hopefully it is something that he will be able to improve easily as he has the intrinsic skill to do it.

take it from someone who watched him in spain, I didn't think he was this quick, its most like he didn't need his pace in spain because spain is more about technique and skill rather than pace and power.

I was blown away by his pace v chelsea
basically what I saw of him in spain, pace was the LEAST of his ability

Well I'll stick me hand up...............I really thought he might take time to settle.

I just hope hes not put off by playing the Blackburns of this league in the middle of Jan on a freezing cold Feb evening.

He needs to get rid of the horrible parrot hair though.

I knew he was good, i thought he would be perfect for us and i thought he may be the man to take us to the next level.

What i didnt know is just HOW good he is, the frightening acceleration and pace that he has, or just how close he is to being the complete striker at such a young age.

When you consider all that and how well hes slotted in then i cant believe our luck quite honestly. I still cant quite believe he's playing for us.

I dont have a problem at all with his finishing, all strikers miss chances and the Chelsea goal and especially the first Derby one show me that he's an accomplished finisher.
