I never thought he would be that good. Not in a million years.

I'm Swedish but not biased. I don't like him and wouldn't want us to sign him. He has changed since he moved from Juve.

Now he works very hard every game. Players can change you know.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I disagree (about the hard working bit)

When Rafa first joined us and was getting interviewed, when asked about potential signings, he said that if he had an open cheque book, Torres would be his first signing. At the time though it would cost about £50m to prize him away so there was no chance.

I always had this at the back of my mind and because of it Torres was second choice for me behind Villa, but was it even said because no one else seems to remember it and I can’t find the quote?
Don't remember the quote but I remember a rumour from that time that his ideal strike partnership was Kuyt and Torres. Seems to be doing alright for us now

Among the accusations for Torres were "lightweight" and "lazy"

I didn't know how good he was, but he looked like a player during the World cup. I did think he looked like he needed a new challenge after being top scorer and captain of an under achieving club for years.
In general I always big-up new LFC signings but I didn't think he'd settle so quickly. Pace is the one thing that as a defender it is always difficult to deal with. You can't "find out" someone with pace AND intelligent running (ref: Henry). If he manages to have a good injury record he'll be a phenomenal striker for us for many years IMO.

I wonder whether Torres was Rafa's third choice behind Villa and E'too ? If so,thank goodness RB didn't get his preferred options.

no offence but torres isn't better than eto and the scoring charts and achievements backs that up.

I think the term "Hit the ground running" is very appropriate at the moment, The team and especially Torres have done this..He has settled very quickly. I am a little surprised how quick he has adapted.

Not being a follower of La Liga I really didn't know what to expect with the purchase of Torres. I suppose when most of one's opinion is formed by the likes of you lot you get a little concerned that the players ability gets lost under the veil of some supporters wet dream - i.e. Cisse.

Torres looks absolutely brilliant (football wise....). The Chelsea goal was a magnificent example of the goal scorers art, the first Derby goal even more so with how early he slid the ball past the 'keeper.

It's rare I get overly excited about an LFC player these (decades!) days but Torres looks like that corner we always said we were about to turn.....

                                Francis.

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

                                A defensive mid for £18m?
