there's already a thread about carra, what's the point in making another one?

what does a count of 10 no's and 3 yes's prove about anything? i'd rather see a discussion about it than a bunch of meaningless numbers. if you can't get a feel for the general opinion of people on the site than you aren't reading the threads, there aren't 100's of people involved in the discussion (i'm not writing that about you, just in general)

I'm quite ambivalent about it all because we've seen Stevie and the midget do it before, but Carra doing it really has left me a bit flabbergasted. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Maybe footballers are all the same after all; greedy *******s who are all out to make as much as they can while they can

Just posted this on the other thread but I'll post it here as well. (Just in case any of you missed it there/cos I like the sound of my own voice....delete as apropriate).

Like I said before, my head's really wrecked with this now.
If we're not careful we're gonna see lads with the same views falling out cos of disagreements over a newspaper which, don't forget, has not done anything wrong (apart from being a relation of one which did something which we all agree was a ****ing disgrace).
I've seen everything that's been written on here about this issue since last week and there are some points I wanna make to clear up some falsehoods and some views I wanna express. I'll do them in list form to make them easier for you to pull to bits.
                  1. There has never been any official boycott of the NOTW.
                  2. There has been a boycott of the Sun which has been going strong for over 18 years.
                  3. The two publications are linked financially, no argument.
                  4. Sky cross promotes with the Sun as much as the NOTW does. Anyone watch Sunday Supplement this morning? That show is financed by the Sun.
                  5. You will not see a NOTW sport exclusive interview shared with the Sun. It just doesn't happen. The two editorial teams are as competitive as the Mirror and the Sun.
                  6. The whole of the Premier League got rich by feasting at Sky's table. How did Sky get its claws into the game? By using the riches that News International supremo Rupert Murdoch had built up from the success of the Sun in this country. Therefore, the money that has made our club rich has its roots in the success of the Sun and the way its owner reinvested his the cash he made from it.
                  7. Liverpool Football Club treat the NOTW exactly the same as all other national newspapers. Only the Sun is treated differently.
                  8. I know for a fact that Jamie Carragher received no fee for today's article. In the past he was a columnist with the Echo and he only took a fee on the basis that it was given to Alder Hey. He gave today's interview to a NOTW journalist (I don't know which one but it wasn't Chris Bascombe) in good faith and in the belief that the NOTW is not part of the boycott. He would never give any interviews to the Sun.
                  9. The News of the World sells an average 3.5m a week. The newspaper industry usually measures readership in terms of for every one person who buys the paper, three read it. It’s like if your dad brings the ECHO home from work, his wife and kid will read it too. So, in reality, the News of the World has around 14 million readers. The Liverpool ECHO currently sells around 110,000, giving it an estimated readership of 330,000. Not even the same stratosphere as the NOTW. According to the conspiracy, Ruport Murdoch is sitting in his mansion, assessing his 14 million readership of the NOTW, and thinking he needs to rebalance the loss of sales of The Sun by grabbing more Merseyside readers of the NOTW.
He sees the Echo sells 110,000. Let’s say it’s a 50-50 split of Liverpool and Everton fans who buy the ECHO. That’s 55,000 Kopites up for grabs. Let’s be generous and say all 55,000 Reds boycott the News of the World. Not a single Liverpool supporting ECHO reader buys it. They appoint Chris Bascombe to the News of the World in the hope of attracting a fraction of this 55,000 because THAT’S REALLY going to make a huge difference to the 3.5m he’s already established.
At the same time, he risks alienating the 55,000 Evertonians who buy the ECHO and have no issues with the NOTW but have a fair few, rightly or wrongly, with Mr Bascombe.
Even better, Bascombe is available because he isn’t even that good a writer and none of the other nationals want him – and yet he’s still capable of delivering thousands of new readers to the NOTW, apparently. The point is, those who keep peddling this Murdoch conspiracy theory are well wide of the mark.
Nationally, he's a no-mark. Regionally, the idea he can take a following to a national paper that sells as much as the NOTW and impact sales is ludicrous.
If it was The Independent or a paper which sells **** all, the argument would make sense, but not with the biggest seller in Britain.

Last, and but by no means least, this is turning into a ****ing farce. Anyone know what Duckenfield is up to today? Or how Graham Kelly spent his Sunday?
                  No?
                  Didn't think so.
And yet they will always be the main culprits. The ones who sent 96 our fans to their deaths on April 15 1989.
The Sun told lies. The worst kind of lies. They accused us of stealing from our own and pissing on corpses. That should never be forgiven or forgotten and the boycott is a magnificent response.
But never lose sight that the people responsible for our fans dying come from South Yorkshire Police and the English FA.
At the moment, we're fighting amongst ourselves over a newspaper which not many of us have ever liked or bought anyway. And why? Because a single journalist has taken a job there.
If the British establishment did not have the Sun's lies they would have to invent them because they are currently distracting us from the real culprits.
Use the boycott as a rallying point, by all means, but do not use it to divide people who have stood together so magnificently for two decades.

Sorry for this being so long winded and I'm even more sorry if this has offended any of you but I'm seeing a loss of perspective and a growing division and both need to be addressed.
We either find some common ground or agree to disagree on this or we fall apart and all the good work of the last 18 years will be lost for good.
United we stand, divided we fall. The choice is ours.
And for me the solution is simple: Don't Buy The Sun
To those who keep argueing amonst themselves, read the above carefully, and if you still can't get along, take deep breaths for a count of 10.

If that doesn't work then, kindly, refrain from posting poison.

                  Thank you.

And I don't believe for one minute that he doesn't realise that some would kick off about it. He must've seen that Owen and Gerrard got stick for selling themselves to the NOTW.

I don't think any less of him for doing it. As has been said the NOTW isn't The Sun, there's no boycott against it and it's a free country.

Still stunned that he's done it mind.

I take back what I said in my previous post. I apologise.

Still don't understand why he's chosen the NOTW. Why not The Mirror or a broadsheet, even the Times?
