Both a massive loss for us, especially Agger Sami is good to come in now and then at his age but to play 6 weeks at centre back will be tough for him and us as he'll get burnt for pace in some games and be exploited.

I can see Arbeloa come intot he centre at times but its not ideal
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

Does anyone actually have any statistics or are you both just plucking opinions out of anecdote and supposition?

      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Yes it is and we got early warning signs to try to ensure against this.
I'm fully aware Rafa didn't want to be rush into buying anyone and I agree with this but at the same time we do need decent cover.
Our only saving grace might be Arbeloa slotting in beside Carra and Riise/Aurelio at LB both will be available this week.
Sami is good cover but after Porto it was evident he plays to deep and doesn't keep the ball, tends to punt it to often, great player and has served us well but I think we need a ball playing CB.

Same here. It's not the end of the world, but it was clear this was going to happen after we couldn't get him.

i know its stating the obvious but we need 2 mid term replacments at CB as Carra is no spring chicken. lack of pace at the back worries me cos Aggers not the fastest either. Cant see richards being a serious option now so who would we be looking at?
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

Alas, I have no stats, but firmly believe that english clubs don't get more metatarsal problems than those in other countries. If it weren't for beckham, 99% of people on here would never have heard of a metatarsal. Abroad, they probably call it a broken foot, making it hard to differentiate or check statistics.

completely agree, was listening to an interview with an old footy player and hewas asked why do all these metatarsal injuries keep happening is it down to the boots, fitness etc?

he said they dont happen anymore regularly then they used to....they were just called broken toes back then

They also didn't do scans like now and only proper breaks show up on X-rays. Hairline fractures would probably just have been "a bruised foot" or similar.
