It's time the PL realize that the players need a break sometimes during the season. It's not a coincidence that it's in the PL that most metatarsal injuries happen.
The players in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and so plays with the same boots but they don't get metatarsal injuries that often.
Sooner or later it will be one game to many and the player gets injured.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If it's true that players in the Premier League get more metatarsal injuries, it's unjustifiable to leap to the conclusion that the schedule is to blame. Maybe the pitches are different or the (purportedly) more physical and dynamic nature of the game is to blame. I don't altogether see how the schedule can influence bone injuries anyway - muscular injuries yes but fractured bones?Originally posted by AFII View PostIt's time the PL realize that the players need a break sometimes during the season. Besides, the season is only a few weeks old..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Seems to be a combination of harder pitches and weaker boots, can't really think of anything else that can contribute to itThomas Hicks Senior

When Rooney got injured before the world cup I was listening to a football phone in. Some doctor came on and started talking about metatarsal injuries. She said that the bone can become weaker through constant stress and general wear and tear. She said that the more you kick the ball the more stress you put your bones under. If the players had regular scans it would show the hot spots and which bones were under the most stress and therefore if the players rested the hotspots would eventually go away. I think both yourself and AFII have a point but I do think the amount of games the players play in the EPL has something to do with these injuries.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostIf it's true that players in the Premier League get more metatarsal injuries, it's unjustifiable to leap to the conclusion that the schedule is to blame. I can see that. I don't see how giving the players a short rest would help though since they've all just had one.Originally posted by Pacman View PostWhen Rooney got injured before the world cup I was listening to a football phone in. Fewer games might help but then the managers might just end up rotating less..

Or maybe we don't follow foreign clubs and therefore don't hear about their injuries. There's probably similar threads going on for all clubs all over the world.Originally posted by AFII View PostIt's time the PL realize that the players need a break sometimes during the season. My guess is that british based players in the prem, per quota, get the same injuries as those in other leagues and other countries.Last edited by carheex; 20-09-07, 11:53 AM.

I follow La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga very closely and they don't have any big problem with metatarsal injuries.Originally posted by carheex View PostOr maybe we don't follow foreign clubs and therefore don't hear about their injuries. I thought you'd probably say that. No one follows Bundesliga football!Originally posted by AFII View PostI follow La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga very closely and they don't have any big problem with metatarsal injuries.
I'm sure the foreign leagues have the same problems - there's no reason why they wouldn't have.

That is six players from three different leagues. Not that many if you compere to the PL and a few of the above happened almost a year ago.Originally posted by carheex View PostIndeed. Shame you don't follow those leagues as closely as you claim or you'd know that recently hitzelsperger, alamania, viana, webo, messi, sanchez, to name but a few have suffered the metatarsal injury.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
