Well, that really was a dog **** performance by the reds. Good to see Rafa keeping our best attacking player on the bench again. Unless Rafa starts to play his best 11 every game we're going to really struggle to win the premiership. The 'great' start to the season is suddenly turning into an ok start. Spurs is now a must win game.....lets hope Rafa plays our best 11 or else we'll drop more points.

Best 11 based on what????
Goals scored, Team playing against, Fittest, Injury free.
Based on Gerrards performance against Porto why didn't Sissoko start today?
Why didn't crouch start instead of Voronin?
Why not play Babel on the right wing as Pennant surely doesn't deserve to start does he?
Benayoun not available =Yom Kippur.
Why not play Leto on the left wing, what about kewell maybe?
Then again we could always play Riise on the left and leave Arbeloa at the back......
What is our best 11 and
why can't people understand that as much as we would love to see the same winning team play week in week out, it just ain't gonna happen.
And Rafa is experienced enought to step up and take the **** IF it happens.
Sounds like nobody is bothered as long as Gerrard and Torres start every game...
Chelsea fans are asking for Mourinho to come BACK.
The guy spent about 150mill.....
Where does that put Rafa??

It doesnt take a genius to work out that our best players are Pepe, Carra, Gerrard and Torres. Use that spine for every important game. End of.

unfortunately Gerrard has been crap for a few games, Pepe looked like David James at Porto and Carra is coming back from injury - i wonder whether we should blame the current slump on the players and not the manager?Originally posted by DJS View PostHow much do you think Rafa's spent? Ive been watching and playing football for the best part of 15 years mate.Originally posted by DJS View PostHave you ever watched a game of football before mate???
You sound ridiculously bitter. Brum have no obligation to play in any given way, as long as it's within the rules, they can use as many men in front of their own goal as they like. We failed to win because Rafa's stupid rotation policy meant our best attacker was picking splinters, and because the master tactician had no answer to their highly unoriginal 'everyone behind the ball' approach. Our fault, not their's.
One of the reasons i sound so bitter towards Brum is that im from a Spanish background....and i was actually a Madrid fan before i started getting into Liverpool. I absolutely loathe the style of football that Brum played today.
Teams that are of a lower standard have every right to have men behind the ball....but the manner in which Birmingham played today just drives me up the wall. They had the whole midfield as well as the defense in our box.....how are you supposed to play a nice atractive style against that. You cant, ive played against teams like that...and it frustrates the **** out of me. You just have to keep trying and hope someone makes a mistake, or you hit a long shot and it take a Lampard style deflection.
Yes Torres should of played, but I can see why Rafa was resting him. We have 4 good quality strikers at this club. They should all be able to do a good job against Brum at home. Our players have played alot of games over the past 2 weeks, and Rafa had every right to give Torres a rest today. Kuyt and Voronin have enough quality to deal with Brum.....the fact that they both did nothing is of course a tad worrying.
The fact i had money riding on this game also may have had something to do with my outbursts
Im never betting on Liverpool games again.

We madea great start to the season and were playing some lovely stuff with confidence and everything was looking good.
Then the manager decides to unneccesarily rotate yet again 3 games ago and we've steadily got worse.
When he is ever going to learn you have to play your best ****ing side, consistently, in the league if you want to at least challenge for it?
Its Torres and one other up front, end of discussion, he must play week in week out, we offered no threat whatsoever yesterday till he came on.
Sorry but imo, the manager got it wrong again yesterday, and this is happening too often for my liking. If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

Aren't we the ones paying their wages to entertain us?Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostCan I add it was an embarrasing atmosphere today. the moron Spurs fans produced a much better atmosphere against No One FC on Thursday in UEFA Cup than we did against Brum. In fact 1800 Anorthosis fans on Thurs produced a better atmosphere than us. Too often we neglect our duty to inspire the players, instead we wait for them to inspire us. The way we get on their back, we'll be lucky if playing at home doesnt become a burden to them
If Liverpool want to slip us all a few notes to provide them some inspiration then I'm sure there will be singing to closing time...

it's farcical. It's obvious that Rafa's obsession with resting players is going to ultimately hurt us.Originally posted by DJS View PostYeah, everyone on here who's saying the same, along with all the pundits and everyone else is wrong... :whatever:

Ferguson, Wenger and Mourinho have all won the premiership. What did they have in common? Their core best players played in almost every premiership game. Drogba, Henry and RVN always played and what was the end result? Premiership titles.
Torres simply has to play every f*cking premiership game. He's head and shoulders above our other strikers. Bruce must've been absolutely delighted when he saw the team sheet with Kuyt and Voronin up front.
I'm furious.

Infuriating when you read that it was a tactical decision.
Everyone goes on about our great start and that we're second in the premiership. But ask yourself this....have we played any decent sides yet? No. Portsmouth away was the only difficult fixture on papaer and we were lucky to come away with a draw.
We've got to do better and Rafa needs to make the premiership our priority and play the likes of Torres every game.

This could be an ego problem. I mean, Pako's gone for allegedly criticizing Rafa's decisions. It's never a good thing when there's one dominant manager and a team of yes men around him. I hope that's not the case at Anfield and that Rafa acknowledges his mistakes.
I still feel that he trusts his squad though and he's trying to use it to the full. The reason we're not winning games at the moment could be down to lack of quality in depth. But we used to grind down 1-0 wins when we we didn't have the quality we have now. Hopefully it's the international break which has temporarily undone us.

The problem is that we have a to big squad so Rafa must rotate to keep everyone match fit, or almost match fit.
We must sell a few players in January as I see it or we won't win the league. You can have a to small squad but also a to big squad.
Sissoko, Crouch, Riise and maybe Pennant should be sold as soon as possible.
The reason, we don't need them and we a to big squad.
Do we need Sissoko? No, we have other better central midfielders than him and they need to play more.
Do we need Crouch? No, we have other better strikers. Torres is better at the things Crouch has as his strenghts.
Do we need Riise? No, we have other better left sided players.
Do we need Pennant? Maybe, but only until we have signed up a right winger who can get past his man. Gerrard should play on the right until then.
So right now we have several players that we don't need and they take up playing time from the players we need to be in top form.
Don't get me started on that players need time to adapt. They will never adapt to the PL if they are playing for the reserves week in week out. Leto and Lucas should play because they are right now our best options as attacking midfielders and on the left.
Drop Kuyt, play Lucas, play Leto on the left and start Torres in every PL game.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Kuyt and Voronin were both atrocious yesterday.
This is the key thing now for me. With the difficulties Chelsea have had and Man U looking so uninspiring, while Arsenal are still a young team, we have a great chance this year. Having said that it will be close and every point will count - Rafa has to make the league the priority and play the best team. He seemed to be singing from a different hymn sheet this season and saying how European success was fine but it was the Premiership he wanted to conquer. But then we have the Portsmouth fiasco last week and seeing the team he put out in Porto on Tuesday makes me wonder just how much of a priority the Premiership really is to him.Originally posted by desertscouser View PostWe've got to do better and Rafa needs to make the premiership our priority and play the likes of Torres every game.White liquid in a bottle = Milk
