Yeah but he has to rotate intelligently.Originally posted by Parm View Postthing is, when he rotates and we win, there is no problem. But when we draw/lose then all of a sudden it is a problm. The bigs all rotate and they have to, it's a must for the modern game. it'd be nice to go back to the day of Paisley when we jusy used 14 players in an entire season, but sadly we cant/.
Away at pompey was a stupid piece of rotation, the following game was the 1st of a SIX game group, in which we're the best team and will easily qualify.
Yesterday, we went into a crucial game, with the carling cup to follow - and he rests torres...why? Nothing to rest him for. Daft.

He didn't rest him, he said it was a tactical decision.Originally posted by DJS View PostYesterday, we went into a crucial game, with the carling cup to follow - and he rests torres...why? Nothing to rest him for. Daft.
(yeah, it doesn't make the decision seem any better but thought I'd point it out)

In which case, Rafa's not the tactical genius we all thought...Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostHe didn't rest him, he said it was a tactical decision.

I dont think it was tactical TBH, i thought he felt that as Torres played in Porto, he'd let him sit this out.

He made a decision which didn't work out, can you name me a manager who's never made a mistake? In Benitez' case, they are very rare and it did catch me off guard when I read what he said. I was certain Torres didn't start this one because of the shape he looked in against Porto.Originally posted by DJS View PostIn which case, Rafa's not the tactical genius we all thought...

we dropped two points yesterday. I guess, after watching the highlights, it was very frustrating.
But I think the response of us, is way over the top - there shouldnt really be any booing (still undefeated this season) - but we should get behind the team and trust Rafa's plans. If at the end of the season, things havent worked out - then thats time for the post-mortem
I feel guilty as one of the antagonists against Ged in those painful two years or so before he left, spitting out bile against him. I should have seen the greater picture, and realised that supporting the club is always the main thing
Im not saying Rafa is on the way out - far from it, but that ur support should be unflinching (as well as our dislike for the mancs
) as I dont think 6 EPL games is a fair time to make judgement on Rafa's tactics or buys.
I am very confident that Rafa will ultimately suceed and really hope he does and if not our new management would act appropriately if not.We need better attacking players!
Torres aint enough

Every result that doesn't go our way this season will be blamed on poor team selection, guaranteed.Originally posted by DJS View PostIt's two poor team selections out of 6 games...
Torres and Voronin start, we don't win: "I think Crouch was more suited to this game than Voronin"
Torres and Crouch start, we don't win: "I think we lacked someone who can link up with the midfield, Crouch just stood there and waited for the ball"
Alonso and Gerrard start in the middle: "We weren't strong enough defensively, Mascherano would have done better than Alonso"
Gerrard and Mascherano start: "We definitely missed Alonso, our passing wasn't good enough"
There will always be a good player missing from the team because our squad is so deep, and you can bet he will be mentioned if we don't win.
