I think our clubs do have a responsibility to try and help british players. Carragher wouldn't get through the system today, he's said as much himself, but how much poorer would we be without him? British players have a spirit about them that can more than make up for any technical deficiencies they may have compared to a ball juggling brazalian. Its a much maligned skill that is often overlooked these days.
I take it the David James factor is in your thinking on this one.

It's not like Scottish keepers haven't had more than a few comedy capers.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

No absolutely, but this guy was on a level of incompetence all his own.

                Yes, I do remember.

It's interesting though. I can only think that goalkeeper must be a very technical position these days. I see absolutely no reason why black goalkeepers should be intrinsically worse than white ones. The only explanations that make sense to me are cultural and to do with coaching.

Obviously in this country it's not the lack of coaching. However, the '74 Zaire team is probably a perfect example of that. After all, one of them didn't even know they had to wait for the opponents to take a free kick after the whistle had gone. We don't see that level of naivete now. I'm sure in time there'll be plenty of top class black goalkeepers.
