That is bound to cause a degree of hatred. Were once they had banter they now have nothing so the feeling of, 'they arent like us' or whatever is bound to take over. Im wafflin now.
It's strange though. The go on about being "the peoples club" yet at a home game against Bolton last season, in which they lost 4-0, half the crowd left early, and the rest booed them off. Compare that with our supposed home support made up of OOT, woolybacks and scandos all staying to the end of that 4-1 home loss to Chelsea to sing YNWA, showing solidarity with the players and manager. My point being they are just bitter that their club's in a chronic decline.

I think the spitefulness has a lot to do with the rise of the number of out of town-ers.

My thinking is that, its never been all happiness and light, but when it was all scousers, people knew people, they got on in work and out of work. they'd go the game together as they were mates outside of football. Thats not the case anymore. The people going the game now are not mates with Blues everyday, dont have blues in their family etc and as a result of this they just see Everton as 'the enemy' as they havent known blues as anything else. Everton are our city rivals and thats it. But to scousers, Evertonians are your brother, your old fella, the bloke next door etc and it is this that has started the hatred.
I am sorry but you really are talking out your arse.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is that I have never been to a Derby so can't comment on first hand experience like some of you. I am just going by my experiences, thats if I am going on the bus from the city centre you get abused but it's not directed at one set of people.

It is tho, i will be Sat in mine on Saturday and hear sirens all afternoon, at least 3 or 4 pubs will get shut by the bizzies.

Its not too bad if its a draw or if we get beat. But if we win its ****en horrible.

Funnily enough, whenever I've watched the derby anywhere in Liverpool it's always been sound. No fights, just banter and a generally good atmosphere.

                        Excellent post Sir Bob.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Maybe its not too bad away from the grounds, but i live right next to Woodison, so i guess people are still fuming when they get into the pub.

Good thread with many good points, Im an "out of towner" who now lives up here, works in Liverpool and goes to most games home and away. I stopped going to Goodison after the Gary Mac game too, I thought i was gonna die when he scored (I was in the Gwladys Street).

I put most of the hatred from them down to the younger generation 16-22 ish year olds being basically nobheads, we have plenty too as i see every time i go away or to Cardiff/Istanbul for example (we had some on the pitch in the charity shield). The older generation Evertonians who i am still friends with still have a laugh about the derby before and after.
I actually dont "Hate" Everton or Chelsea for that matter the only team that really wind me up is the mancs. i hate losing the derby cos of all the wind ups afterwards but i also work in Manchester some times and ive thrown sickies other than go to work if we lose to those ****s. (I used to book holidays after the OT game every year in the nineties).
The older Evertonians blame us for the demise of thier club (tongue in cheek)but the younger ones actually believe it and as the youth of today arent taught about respect for anyone it spills over (on both sides).
Our young fans are no better than the Blue****e/mancs who sing about Hillsborough or Heysel, I saw one of ours last year for the Man U home game with a Liverpool away shirt with 58 Munich on the back.

I only see it going one way and that will eventually mean no away fans for these games as eventually something major will happen and the press will get hold of it. Every year there is agro at OT and every derby there is agro in town after.

At the end of the day one word sums it up Jealousy.

It's annoys me abit though the way everyone blames the Evertonians for every bit of trouble as if all Liverpool fans are completely innocent of everything. That's balls. I come from Liverpool and have family and friends who are Evertonians, none of which are anything like the way some describe them.

Some of my best mates are blues, some of them even go the match .

They dont cause trouble, yeah we have banter and we rip each other, but we drink in different pubs on Derby day.

We have just as many knob heads as them, in fact i have nearly end up fighting Liverpool fans trying to protect Everton fans who were totaly out numberd and gettin picked on for nothing
