Different situations though. It's easy for Sami to be magnanimous and accept rotation - he's in the twilight of his career. Sami was a regular throughout his best years.

        Crouch is in his prime.

Two very different scenarios and not worthy of comparison.

Although of course, Sami is a total legend and a model pro.

Should have sold him in the summer, which is what I wanted anyway.
Then his value was really inflated and we could have gotten top money for him.

He is an average player who has done a bit better than expected here.
i'm sorry mate but crouch is a much better player than adebayor.

Berbatov, well he is a decent enough player but again, Spurs are the most likely team to break the top 4 so he may well stick around for that.
unless chelsea implode the big four will be the same again this season. and by the way, even city, everton or newc look more likely to break into the top four than spurs ...

Chelsea wont implode and Spurs will improve. Roman wont let Chelsea slide and will eventually see sense and Spurs, well they'll either get their arse into gear (after sunday) or they'll get someone in who can get them in to gear, theyve got to good a team to be mid table.

Every season there is a team who is up there who doesnt belong. This year its Citys turn.

I'm not sure I'd go with that. Crouch as an established mamber of the squad and a popular figure within it is something very difficult to replace. I feel that part of the problem this seasonw ith us getting draws has been the need to integrate new players into the squad such as Benayoun, Babel, Torres and Voronin. We need four strikers who offer different things and as part of that mix Crouch would have been very hard to replace for the money we would have got for him.

Also we shouldn't be looking at things as a selling club would - i.e. maximising the financial aspects of the deal but at the footballing ones alone - we are a big club and have to think like one.

I'm not sure this is true. I like both players actually but at the minute Adebayor is offering more and is improving more quickly. If Crouch had continued to play like he did in the middle of last season until the end then I would have had to have agreed with you but the improvements he made in heading and using his body seem to have been temporary and have gone now.

I have begun to think that to get the best out of Crouch we need both two fullbacks who cross from deep and to allow him a run to get confidence. At the minute both are hard for us to offer so I think he will remain a useful but ultimately to some degree limited squad member and will be sold next summer. Having said that he did show last year he can be much more than that and I would love to see him return to that performance level and to earn more game time with it.

Maybe it would have been better to use Yossi as an example, he's showing exemplary attitude, he and Crouch should bunk for the next away game and chat a little.
                      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He is, yes, but his agent isn't. He was bleating and whinging after about two weeks.

To be fair it was his agent and no one knows how much say Yossi had in it. The only way to judge whether a player in whinging in a problematic way is the manner in which they play. Until now I have seen nothing from either Crouch or Benayoun which makes me think either is doing anything other than all they can to get into the team more often which is what I want to see (even if PC is a bit off form).

I think city will push the top four close this year, everywhere through there team is quality and the signings have been spot on. 12/1 for a top 4 finish i think is an excellent bet.

benayoun in his interview i saw after the game said he was happy with his cameo performances, the interviewee was trying to get him to call rafa a **** for his rotational policy. Beni came across very well

It could be that we want to tie him down to a longer deal so we can get more if we sell him.

That is probably the reason to why we offered Sissoko the deal that he signed.
Momo was offered the deal because he is a viable possibility for Rafa first and foremost. Longer contracts do benefit the club if the player is any use obviously so they cant leave on the cheap.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
