Early days of course, but he looks class. Lots of quick one-touch passes, very assured looking.

Lucas has played anything from HM to 2nd striker in Gremio. I would love to see him get a good run. He might be just what we need. No matter what he is a way better option than Momo.

I think we should all remember that Everton were down to 10 men when he came on.

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

And that's why Sissoko started to really up his game...

I was impressed with the lad but lets put this in perspective. He came on when we were up against 10 men; against a team that man for man should not be able to compete with us with 11 let alone 10. Yes, he did well; yes it would have capped it if he'd scored and yes Rafa was proved correct by his introduction but jesus someone mentioned Kaka above??? Let's keep this in perspective and not put too much pressure on the kid. I remember Le Tallec ripping Blackburn apart at Ewood and we all know what happened there.

There's an awful lot of over reaction to Lucas on here. Yes, he did quite well (not brilliant) but it WAS against 10 men who had already been playing for over an hour. Apart from that we've probably only seen about an hour's worth of football from him to date! That said, definitely a better option than Sissoko at present!

...Until he loses form and then everyone will say he's crap, 'gone backwards' and should be off-loaded at the first opportunity because someone younger has looked good in a couple of reserve games and, as a sub in a League game, he did exactly what Rafa brought him on to do which coincidentally is what Rafa has said Momo was doing throughout the ninety minutes of the derby...

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

In 5 years time, we will look back and say Lucus was Rafa's best signing.

IMO anyway. This lad is going to be ****ing brilliant

So they can repeat the hapless Pompey performance? Please no.

I saw Lucas a couple of times before he signed for us, and was delighted when i read that we'd got him.
His potential is enormous, i truly think he's a world class player in the making and he'll become the complete midfielder.
That said, he's not yet ready for regular gametime in the first team, he isnt used to the pace of the game here yet and needs too much time on the ball, but that will come. I dont think it would do him any harm to bulk up a bit either.
His passing for the most part is sublime, with an excellent touch, good awareness and vision and he scores goals.
I think Rafa is handling him perfectly and i hope that before the season is out we're seeing a lot more of him because for me, Torres aside, he was our most exciting signing of the summer.

No, I think its a goal, like the penalty try in rugby. I'd also limit the punishment to a yellow card - losing a player and conceding a penalty is a bit harsh. Of course, on Saturday I had no problem with it.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I disagree. If you handball on the line like Neville did you are gambling it won't be seen. The punishment for that should be a sending off I think. Plus you award a penalty goal whenever it is certain the ball would have crossed the line if there hadn't been a foul (although I can't think of any circumstances where anything other than handball would justify it).

You're right Neil. Me and Dhavlos had this convo earlier. If it bounces off the ground and hits a player on the hand by accident on the line that should be a penalty. A deliberate handball like Neville's should be a goal without the penalty

It can if you change the rules.
