he is good enough for us at the moment because what alternative is there? torres up top on his own wont work, voronin is same type of player as kyut but not as good and crouch is ****!!

I suppose it depends on your opinion on what the minimum requirement for LFC is these days. It used to be hard work and being able to play football. So what is it nowadays then, just being a hard worker? Is that good enough?

kyut recently has had woeful finishing due to lack of confidence but the man who scores 30 goals a year for 3 seasons is not a bad finisher......rooney doesn't score for england in 3 years....does that make him a bad player??

kyut lacking pace??? the man runs around all game so of course he going to slow down as game goes on. watch him early on and you'll see he does have pace.

he has good heading ability...watch crouch for how to head the ball like ****.

Good first touch? Here's some stats. He touched the ball 17 times in the first half last night, only 4 of those times did he find another red shirt.

Mate, you have to be kidding that Kuyt has a good first touch! Kewell, Babel have a good first touch. I've been paying close attention to Kuyt for the last few games and the ball bounces two yards from him when he tries to control it. Convince of his work rate, his usefulness as a second striker, his heading... but you won't convince anyone with eyes that he has a good first touch.

judge kyut (and the rest of the team) in may next year. why all the bashing and negativity when there's still 2 thirds of the seaon to go?? give them all a break and if the season ends with no silverware and outside top 3 teams then call for changes but not in november for fecks sake!!

Kuyt and Babel have been the most dissapointing players for me.Yea,Babel is new and young and all that but my god he doesn't look like no exceptional talent but a run of the mill reserve player.No better than most of our reserves.

Kuyt is just not the player we need.The guy can't do what he was brought to the club for and thats score goals.Fck the rest of his play.Most players can run around for 90 minutes.Hell,i can run around for 90 minutes chasing people!

I'd love to see Kuyt sold in jan (not gonna happen).Huntelaar should replace him imo.He should of been the dutch striker we ended up with.

I wonder if it was a situation similar to when Ac milan sent there people to sign the young John barnes and ended up with luther blissett!

Think you've missed my point. He was our top scorer in the league last season, but people want to use stats against him to make it look like they're being objective. So they narrow the criteria to suit their own view. We really don't learn much from those kind of stats. I think if people are going to argue for or against Kuyt they need to talk about his goalscoring ability and game overall rather than cherry picking what suits them.

I have consistantly said that Kuyt's assets make him a good 3rd choice striker for us, but that we can and should do better for a first choice player. I've also consistantly said that I think Rafa is using him in a role that fails to get anything like the best from him, and in fact is to the detriment of his overall game. I don't think there's anything deluded about that really. But unfortunately it seems you have to subscribe to one extreme or another on here, even if you don't, you're responded to as though you do.

What he has shown is that he is torres`s best partner. They click together perfectly. Hes struggling with poor form at the moment but so are most of the side. There are signs of it improving though throughout the team, we will be firing on all cylinders again soon

Hasn't Kuyt got the better scoring record in holland over the past 3 years though? Huntelaar could turn out to be even worse! :shudders:

Personally, I dont think Kuyt is good enough as a lone striker. He should be ok as Torres' foil upfront though. He puts himself about a bit and reminds me a lot of a certain other crazy dutch striker we had once.
