statistics lie. Berbatov is a far better technically gifted than Kuyt...thats not to say id prefer him mind as I think his attitude could be an issue, especially when rotated.
**** him, buy better I say.

I really don't wanna stick the boot in when the lad hasn't even played, but we really do look a much better attacking outfit when he doesn't play. Crouch retains possession sooooooo much better than Dirk and the movement around Crouch as the 'pivot', as it were, is always so good. Gerrard clearly enjoys playing with him.
He's slipped to 4th choice IMO and it should stay that way while we're playing well and winning.
I agree with that, I've been saying Berbatov was overated since last season, and I usually have a good inkling for this type of thing when it comes to strikers. For me neither are good enough, but I have to laugh when I see ppl saying Kuyt isn't good enough and then listing Berbatov as a replacement
People "Spunk" themselves over Berbatov for his technical ability not his effectiveness.
But of course I'd rather have him instaed of Kuyt.
I suppose it's down to philosophy. Would you rather have a hard worker who has mediocre talent, or a lazy **** who has technical ability in spades?
Put it this way you can teach/encourage a player to work harder but you can't teach a player to trap the ball better, they've either got that or they haven't.
Is Berbatov the right player for us? Don't know, but I do know Kuyt isn't.
They may have the same rate of scoring but surely Berbatov has been responsible for more of his teams goals than Kuyt has?
he had 11 assists last season in the league.
i don't think anyone can fault his ability but he's just like many modern footballers, a spoiled egocentric primadonna who thinks all the hard work is behind him.

I dont doubt that, and clearly Berbatov is a better player overall.
Last season though, there was talk valuing Berbatov at £30m or more, which is absurd. For ANY striker to be worth that, he HAS to be prolific in front of goal. And berbatov isnt. That was the main crux of my point

I wasn't really getting at his assists numbers, more how his actual play opens up space for other people to score. No where near worth $30 mil more like $12-$15 mil
Dirk Kuyt, he gives 150% in every game he plays in.. he has the heart and desire of a true Liverpool player, but unfortunately he is too slow, and not prolific enough to be a striker..i don't think playing alongside Torres in a strike partnership suits him as he doesn't posses the pace to keep up with him.. although he is a clever player, and someone who works for the team i don't think he's good enough..
He looked the part on his home debut, when he came on and was chasing everything looked sharp and nearly scored..I don't know his best position, i could see him being more useful in a formation where we have Babel upfront with Torres (pace, power..) and try and find a position just behind them, as a link up player between midfield and attack.. but then you'd have to take a midfielder out of the equation and with the likes of alonso, gerrard, mascherano, kewell, pennant, lucas, sissoko you would have to take your pick of three from them.
