Spurs have said that they want £20m for Berbatov.

We will never get £20m for Kuyt but Spurs will get the £20m they want for Berbatov IMO.

I think you need to look at the number of assists he makes every season then you will discover how good Berbatov is.

I'm not saying that Berbatov isn't of the required quality just saying that you'll bang on about one player and signing him being the route of ending all problems like it's fact. A little while ago it was Aguero which you said was "very possible" which was complete bull****. Please don't give me the whole Rafa rating him thing again, it gets tiring. Anyway, now that his release clause has been raised suddenly it's Berbatov this that and the other. If he signs elsewhere or signs a new contract or whatever which player that we obviously aren't going to make a bid for who we're completely outpriced for etc are you going to start saying that we have to sign, it's ridiculous. This is football not hoping for every second a player is going to be signed. And anyway, even if the player was signed as soon as we didn't win a game you'd be giving other player names which we would be "needing" to sign to improve. Give it a break, we need to look at what we've got which is more important than what we may potentially and unrealistically have.

That's fair but so far he hasn't been that good when he play from the start.

I have already said that Nemeth should get a chance, he can't be any worse finisher than Voronin or Kuyt and we need a more clinical striker upfront together with Torres, so the opposition can't only concentrate to mark Torres out of the game.

Babel's still easing his way in and that can show. But he still has the raw materials to make him a far better option up front than Kuyt will ever be.

How many times do i need to say this? Yes, Torres missed chances but every striker does and when they score the goals Torres does, it's forgivable.

In Kuyt's case, there's little you can find to balance out all the negatives.

The point is that Torres usually scores goals and everyone misses chances. I'm pissed off that Torres missed today but he's usually reliable and makes up for it. Kuyt is poor regularly and the frustration builds up. If Kuyt had scored 15 goals this season, i wouldnt mind so much, but he KEEPS being a weak link and it's ****ing costing us points.

Sorry, I was under the impression we were discussing why we didn't win todays game.

Like I say, we battered them nil nil. EVen with our two star players below par we still battered them.

Play this way every week and we'll look a bloody good side.

And no, I wouldn't play Kuyt, but he's not THE reason we didn't win.

Torres should win us every game, with his ability and the chances he'll get. But that's not being realistic, is it?

There IS a burden of responsibility on the other striker too. How often does Kuyt live upto it?

I'm far from as big a critic of Kuyt as DJS but to a large extent I agree with him here. The fact is that Torres deserves some stick for missing chances but in the bigger picture he does contribute enough, whereas in terms of goals the rest of the attacking quartet don't.

While I think Kuyt is a valuable squad option we need another forward who scores goals and frightens the opposition (and Rafa has faith in). In the long term it is that fact that Kuyt (as well as the two wide players) don't score enough that holds us back as a team. Especially in tight games have multiple threats is not only good of its self but opens up room for the likes of Torres.

At this point Kuyt needs a Hleb like transformation after a couple of seasons to deserve a regular first team position or we need to buy a pair of Ronaldos for the wings.

personally i thought kuyt had a good game today. His movement was excellent, his workrate was excellent, his skill level was poor [above usual], but overall he was pretty effective. Unfortunately, the way we play is to maximise Torres finishing power, which was non-existent today.

Remember in school the old adage - get stuck in to their forward early on and he'll **** it for the rest of the match - seemed to work for Richards today
